Food was good, service was questionable. Once we sat down, hostess asked one person what she wanted to drink and walked away without asking the rest of the table. Food comes out as it is made, not all together. Good portions and flavors. Hostess never returned to table.

The food tastes so delicious. This restaurant operates by a couple, they are so nice to customers. But they didn't hire any staff to take orders/packing the delivery/clean up tables, they do that all by themselves, which I totally understand because the owner told me it is very difficult to run a restaurant after a pandemic, it is impossible to earn any revenue if they hire staff. BTW, one of the best family restaurants in Millbrae San Mateo.

Don't get turned off by the three star review. The food here is good and the pricing is good. It's a HK style cafe so if you are expecting good service then you are at the wrong place. It's like expecting attentive service at McDonalds. I get take out here regularly after I gave this place a chance. The chicken wings and the HK style pan fried noodles are both great and are things I get on a regular basis.

Called the night before to have the chef prep and cook two fresh rock cod we'd brought in the next day for Xmas eve lunch. The black rock cod was prepared Shanghai sweet and sour style and the red rock cod was steamed with ginger and scallions at $15 each. Delicious and a great deal! Also ordered pea sprouts - fresh, could be less oily, spareribs (could be bigger, there weren't even bones) and bitter melon cooked in black bean sauce and fried chicken wings - very light, but could be tastier. I hope this is an anomaly that it was Xmas eve and due to the holiday rush, the restaurant was not prepared when it opened at 11am. We came in at 11am when it opened, had to find and turn on the rest of the lights to the dining area and get our own menus. However, well done on the fish!

We hosted a house party yesterday and ordered fifteen dishes for takeout -- which all the guests liked. I especially enjoyed the 金沙蝦、鹹魚雞粒炒飯 and 蛋白涼瓜牛肉鬆 。 Everything was reasonably priced. The order was timely; when I arrived, my order was almost complete -- so the food was still hot when I got home. We will order again from here for our next party and try other dishes from their extensive menu.

We were looking for Chinese food and decided to give Gourmet Village a try. Pretty good Chinese food and reasonably priced. Salt and pepper wings were really good and food came out fast.

It was relatively empty on my visit--no more than 3-4 small tables occupied and it was well after the lunch crowd. I walked in and waited for what seemed to be a long time before anymore came out and I wasn't able to get anyone's attention. I was finally seated and given tea, but no menu was given to me and I had to wait to get anyone's attention to get a menu. You figure once seated, you would automatically get a menu! I didn't bother looking at the menu closely and only focused on they Hong Kong style lunch offerings. I was craving and initially ordered the Portuguese baked chicken, but she said they don't have it at this time. I just ordered what came to mind, without looking at the menu and got the baked pork chop. My order came out relatively quickly and it was a fairly large serving. The flavor was good; the dish was smothered in tomato sauce with 2 medium sized pork chops, albeit a bit fatty and served on a bed of rice. Overall the dish was acceptable, but the service was lacking.

My regular lunch spot with my biking buddies during the weekend. Good food, great portions and great price. The owners Dan and Sam are very friendly. I would recommend giving Gourmet Village a try if you are around the area.

This restaurant has about 5 large banquet tables. If you have a large party and did not plan ahead, you are in luck. Finding seats here would be easy. The place has a steady stream of customers, but not too busy even on weekends. Menu is extensive. Food is on the salty side. Ask for less salt if you're watching sodium intake.

Came here after dropping my grandma to the airport!! Was suppose to go to the restaurant right next to this but there was no one there which was kind of sketchy so we went to this place instead! There was about two other parties at the restaurant at this time, keep in mind it was a 7pm on a Saturday. It was definitely a small, hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. The bathrooms and restaurant itself was pretty clean. As far as the food goes it was nothing special. As someone who comes from the Central Valley, I've had better more tasty Chinese food (that's probably saying something.) It was very MID tasting food. Our bill totaled to about $116 and we had a party of seven people. We ordered one order of the salt and pepper pork (this was good but basic), one order of those noodles (my least favorite thing we ordered, tbh I forgot what this was called), a half order of duck (didn't try this one), one order of honey walnut shrimp (Panda Express has better honey walnut shrimp lol, that's saying something), one order of the salt and pepper squid (this one pretty okay, not the best calamari I've had but not the worse, right in the middle), two orders of house special fried rice (mid.), and two orders of Chinese donut (which was me being d*** I thought it was a dessert). For someone who didn't eat anything all day, it was better than nothing, but it definitely could be better.
