Recently visited this restaurant. Loved the fact that it was jammed packed but yet loved the food and specially the Seeranga chicken biryani.

It’s better to close the restaurant instead of serving low quality on less busy times or days.
Definitely not ordering again the chicken biryani.

Although it is made to order (I believe), their parotta was a little oily and hard. Their chettinad vegetable korma was was spot on with the flavors you find at the local restaurants in India.

Love their Jigarthanda and Chicken biryani. Service is good too

This one comes straight from the heart.
As someone who grew up in India, there’s a certain flavor, a certain feeling that food back home gives you—one that’s hard to explain but even harder to find once you’ve moved away. Anjappar Chettinad has somehow managed to bring that feeling back for me.
Their Indo-Chinese dishes? Spot on. The kind of spicy, tangy, perfectly messy goodness you’d find at your favorite local joint back home. The Chicken Lollipops—especially when they’re fresh out of the kitchen—are absolutely addictive.
Their Garlic Fried Rice and Mutton Biryani are my other favorites.
The staff here are always polite and super receptive.
Whenever friends or family visit us from out of town, this is always on the list—almost like it’s one of our local tourist attractions, haha. And every single time, without fail, people leave happy and full.
This place doesn’t try too hard.
It doesn’t need to.
The food speaks for itself.
If you’re in the Bay Area and miss real, no-nonsense Indian flavors—this is it.

Highly, highly recommend.

Calling all Mumbaikars in the Bay who’ve been craving that legit IndoChinese flavor—this is the spot! If you’re like me, your standards may have dropped to accepting mediocrity (looking at you, Inchin’s), but Anjappar brings you right back home.

The chicken lollipops are absolutely on point—crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. The fried rice and Manchurian? Just chef’s kiss. Bold, well-balanced, and exactly what Indo-Chinese should taste like.

Of course, Anjappar is known for its authentic South Indian cuisine, and they do that brilliantly too—the food is always fresh, flavorful, and comforting. But I keep coming back for that Indo-Chinese fix that’s been missing from my life!

Highly recommend for anyone looking to relive those nostalgic flavors from back home.

I ordered a Veg Thali takeout. It was nearly 10pm and they had it ready as ordered and I finished the entire selection of curries and sambar and rasam despite being not that hungry.

A great Indian cook makes each curry and dish unique in flavor and clearly this met the mark. The food was fabulous, the papad nicely packed and yogurt rice was perfect end to the meal.

I might have to eat here again before I leave Friday

The famous biriyani has so much oil, even I can cook a better biriyani with more oil. I don’t know what oil they use in their biriyani. The skill must be in not adding so much oil but in reducing it and making it healthier. Obviously that is lacking.

reasonably priced and authentic taste. Masal dosa and chicken chettinad masala are my personal favorite. Also if u like the south indian flavors , you must try chicken/mutton biryani with small rice .
