The mushroom pepper fry was not great as usual. Kothu paratha also did not look like it's usual best. The mandis were really good though.

Absolutely worst experience ever. This place is a total waste of money and time. The food felt like very old stock, no freshness at all. I ordered chicken biryani and to my shock I found a hair inside it 🤢. I got really tensed because I was very hungry and didn’t expect something so disgusting.

Since I was already hungry, I thought I’d eat mutton biryani that my friend had ordered. Guess what? Even in that biryani I found another hair. Two different biryanis, same problem. That clearly shows how careless and unhygienic this restaurant is.

No quality, no hygiene, no respect for customers. This is not what you expect from a so-called famous restaurant. Completely disappointed. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Avoid if you value your health.

I will start by saying I wish I could give a zero. We visited Thalapakatti Milpitas today for dinner with very high expectations, but the experience was absolutely disastrous. We were a family of three (my husband, my 7-year-old daughter, and me).
We ordered Pallipalayam Chicken (starter) and Mutton Biryani. The restaurant was crowded, so we waited patiently. The starter arrived 20–25 minutes later, which was fine, but the real problem started after that. The Pallipalayam chicken was literally cold, not even warm.
immediately informed the server. He said someone else would address it. When that person came, instead of apologizing, he started blaming us for their mistake. His first response was: “You already served it on your plates and started eating.”
How are customers supposed to know food is cold without tasting it?
He then argued with us for at least 5 minutes, repeatedly saying we had almost finished eating, which was completely false, our plates were still mostly full. We made it very clear that we were not asking for free food, only expecting hot food and basic hospitality.
He then arrogantly said they could remake it, but since they were busy it would take another 25 minutes, as if that justified serving cold food in the first place.
Because of this behavior, I immediately canceled the mutton biryani, went to the front desk, paid, and reported the incident. I asked for the name of the person who behaved rudely at our table, he said his name was Ram. Later at the front desk, we were told his actual name was Srikanth. Why lie? This was extremely unprofessional and disgusting.
We still paid for the starter, even though we barely ate it. I also posted a photo of the untouched food on our plates to clearly show that we were not trying to get free food, we wanted decent service and edible, hot food.
The irony is that after payment, they said they would process a refund, took our name and phone number, and said they would get back to us. At this point, given everything else, I honestly wonder if this is another lie.
We came as a family expecting a good meal and a good experience. Instead, we got cold food, rude attitude, dishonesty, and zero accountability. This place seriously needs to work on customer service, food quality, and honesty. Very disappointed.

Prawn dosa and chicken 65 are really good. Mutton biriyani is different from other Indian restaurants, very tasty. Gunfire chicken is extremely good.

Not much flavor to food. unnecessary red chili spiciness . Quantity of sambar was very less. Two chutneys given with dosa, not much flavor except spicy. In the name of roti, it was NOT freshly made but a thin Frozen roti overpriced. We ordered paneer Biryani biryani also, that had zero flavor for paneer.

Today was my fourth visit to this place in three years. The food used to be decent and edible, but now, the mutton biriyani I ordered today was the worst I have EVER tasted. Took only three scoops of it, by the first, it felt weird. Like spoilt rice. Gave it another try. It was slightly sticky & gooey. Thought that it was only me - but my husband & also my son tried it and agreed it had gone bad. Told the waiter about it. Ordered dosa instead. But he was not just apologetic, but was haughty & tried to lecture us how theirs is the best biriyani in the world. Well, 💯 not true. The starters were good. Andhra chicken roast, Dindigul special chicken roast, and Gobi 65. The mutton kothu parotta was not good. The Kodaikanal chicken whatever was bland. Either there’s a new chef who doesn’t give a damn, or, the gastronomy folks in this restaurant don’t. I’m just mad at myself that I didn’t call the local health department to come and get a sample of the spoilt biriyani which was served. My son & I have been sick & throwing up ever since we came back. 127 dollars WASTED. Jigarthanda was the only thing which was good. Never again to this place! The Thalappakatti biriyani in Dubai, Chennai were all divine. But this branch? NEVER AGAIN.

We tried the Chicken Egg Pepper Roast, Dindigul Special Chicken Roast, and Mutton Biryani — all were flavorful with perfectly balanced spices. The Chicken Fried Rice was also really good. Overall, great taste and satisfying food!

A great place for excellent dindigul thalapakattu biryani. The starters chicken lollipop was excellent to start off with. The mutton biryani was great in taste, but the quantity felt less for the price paid for. Wish they had a bit bigger portion for the biryani. Overall the taste of the food was excellent.

First off, great seeing a big bold HALAL sign on the door itself.

Tried the chicken lollypops, chicken boneless sukka, fish fillet starter and chicken soup. I really liked the chicken lollypops.

Also tried the chicken dum biryani and chicken 65 biryani. The rice was flaky and nice, but the spice here was close to nill. Tasted like pulav to be honest, but maybe thats just the way the native one is made. No hard complains.

All in all, pretty satisfactory experience.

Always a 5 star review from me for this place. Great place and great service. The food is always excellent even thought they are quite expensive compared to other places.
Their mutton biriyani is my favorite.
Also their service is amazing, I recently ordered mutton biriyani for pickup but after coming home saw that it was chicken instead. I called them immediately and they were very helpful and offered to rectify the situation immediately which great customer experience.
I will 10/10 come here more often due to this nice gesture.

Masala Café never disappoints! Their Mutton Biriyani is full of authentic Dindigul-style flavor—tender pieces and perfect spice balance. The Chicken 65 was crispy, juicy, and bursting with taste, and the fish fry had that fresh, home-style aroma with a beautiful crunch. One of the best South Indian spots in Jersey City!
