This is a regular place for us for take out but recently got tea and coffee from them and they tasted funny!! Like the milk had gone bad. Couldn’t consume any of it! $8 went down the drain.
Really good South Indian food. It is however, a takeout only place. The medu vada was crunchy and perfect. The chutneys (both coconut and tomato) were super fresh and yummy. We had the uttapam and ghee pody thatte idly with the vazhakai bajji. Everything was delicious.

We ordered through Uber Eats - best Idly, Vada, Sambar I have tasted outside India. We eat a couple of times and what I loved is the consistency every single time. The way Benne Masala Dosa was packed was a certain way where it made for easy eating in a carry out. Attention to detail wonderful. Just a small suggestion - when ordering carry out in the Uber Eats app allow for option to omit certain chutneys (on multiple item orders) because they are generous with the quantities.

No place to dine in inside. So, everything is served as to go. If that was the case, I might have just done Uber Eats or whatever, why bother to come to restaurant.
Also, it was windy and chilly sitting outside and eating lunch. Very disappointing experience

Idly Express in Milpitas, CA, is hands down one of the best South Indian food joints in the area! The order process was fast, quick, and efficient, making it perfect for a lunch or brunch stop. There’s ample parking right outside, which adds to the convenience.
We ordered a variety of dishes, starting with the Mini Idly (served with Sambar on the side), which was soft and perfectly steamed. The Sambar had just the right balance of flavors and paired beautifully with the idlies. The Medhu Vada was crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, an absolute delight.
Both the Onion Tomato Uttapam and the Onion Tomato Chilli Uttapam were excellent—soft, flavorful, and generously topped with fresh ingredients. The addition of chillies in the latter added a nice spicy kick for those who enjoy a bit of heat in their meal.
To finish, we indulged in a couple of orders of Rava Kesari, and it was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. The Kesari was rich, aromatic, and had just the right amount of sweetness.
While the seating is a bit tight due to the express setup, the food quality is top-notch and authentic. Idly Express delivers a fantastic dining experience with efficient service and outstanding South Indian cuisine. We’ll definitely be coming back for more!

Recently my friends and I went to Idli express, Milpitas to buy some of their boxed food. We bought the kootu, Milagu Kuzumbu and one more tamarind based dish. Kootu was fine but both the others were stale. My friend also took hers home and she also said her food was spoilt. This was all well within the expiry dates specified on the boxes. Looks like these folks are selling stale food. We went with a lot of expectations even though one of the earlier reviews had mentioned that the food had mold as we thought that might have been an exception. Terrible that the management is not paying any attention to the quality of food. Pls don’t buy their boxed containers. I never leave reviews but this time compelled to do so.
