Been there twice. Unique starters and desserts.
We have been utilizing Jalsa's catering services for our events over the past three years. Unfortunately, my last two orders have been unsatisfactory. I reached out to them to let them know, but they did not respond.
Jalsa knocked it out of the park with the food for our wedding; we still have friends telling us how good the food was months after the wedding! After our initial call, where we described the vision we had for our menu, Chef Vittal took the reins and created a wonderful variety of dishes based on our preferences for our tasting. We didn’t want the usual Indian dishes that everyone was familiar with, and we loved how Chef was able to create very unique dishes with flavors that were accessible even to those less familiar with Indian food (especially in regards to lower spice levels). We had a hard time choosing which dishes to go with, but some of our favorites included an ube kofta (this was a big hit with all our guests!) and the baingan waterchestnut thecha. His staff did a great job with serving and ensuring that the buffet trays stayed full and most importantly, hot. Of course, it’s not a Jalsa meal without their infamous mini desserts, and we saw many of our guests grabbing multiple of each because they were the perfect size and so tasty. The chai served after dinner was the perfect cap to a delicious meal. We’re so happy we went with Jalsa, and are already waiting for the next wedding we go to catered by them!
Was invited to an event at the restaurant. I was so excited to go there because it's a long time coming that we have a new venue in the downtown Santa Clara. The wait staff were attentive, the food was excellent - loved the fusion style food. I think salmon ceviche tacos were the bomb, loved the green apple Dal Shorba, Yummy Paneer Trilogy, the Kulfi / chocolate moose so smooth & the list goes on.
Many of our guests said this was the best food they have had at a wedding! These compliments were from both Indian and non Indian guests. The only negative aspects from our experience was that the communication was quite slow and hard to follow, since it was mostly through long complicated email chains that were hard to follow. During our tasting, they did not remove the allergens like we asked. However, we were able to put a no allergen clause in our contact and there were no issues during the actual event.. There was also an instance where one of the cooks asked some guests for a tip, but when I brought it up, they apologized and said that the cook should have not done that. Overall though they got the most important thing right, which was that the food was delicious. I definitely will be recommending them to all my friends and will be using them for future events!
UI recently ordered from Jalsa for a Diwali party at home from a friend’s recommendation. I was very excited about the food/service but unfortunately was disappointed. I had ordered the food last min and made sure by calling up that the order could be fulfilled the next day. We went to pick it up the next day and found out that the order wasn’t started at all and wasn’t communicated to the team that it had to be fulfilled. The team quickly made the 5 dishes in an hour for 20 people while we waited for it. When I order food for a party I do expect some level of effort put in to prepare it and not really be done in a hurry - especially for a 700$ bill. I really hope I can get some sort of refund or credit for the same.
I recently had the opportunity to work with Jalsa Catering on an event and per usual their attention to detail, work ethic and commitment to excellence was superb. As a wedding planner I’ve learned you are only as good as you strongest team players and this wedding had it’s challenges that could not have been handled with grace without them. If you are considering them, don’t hesitate! They will treat you like family, be responsive, professional and definitely strive to wow you with their delicious cuisine!
My wife and I used Jalsa as our caterer for our July Wedding in Oakland. I cannot tell you how many people have talked to me since the event saying it was some of the best if not the best food they have had at a wedding. 10/10 for taste and flavor given all of the constraints that caterers are under when it comes to providing food for a huge off-site event. Disclaimer: Jalsa operates on a looser timeline when it comes to phone and email communication, especially when you are more than 6 weeks out from your event. If you need immediate responses to questions they might stress you out, but if you want DELICIOUS food and a team that will come through on the day of, they're a great pick!
We used Jalsa Catering this weekend for a birthday party we hosted in our backyard. The event was for 35 of our closest friends and family, and the party was a great success. Prior to the event, we set up a phone call to discuss their extensive menu. Each of their unique dishes were delicious and beautiful. We requested two servers who arrived prior to the event to assure everything was setup and appetizers were ready to go as our guests arrived. They were flexible, allowing us to delay the serving of entrees, as our guests trickled in over the first hour. Overall, we were extremely happy with the quality of the food and the service team. Look forward to using them in the future.
My sister just had a tasting at Jalsa, and invited my wife and I, we enjoyed the food! The restaurant also were very kind to add additional items to the tasting. My personal favorites were the peanut chaat, paneer nizami, and moong halwa.
But aside from the food, the staff were also very friendly. Our daughter was 7 months and needed to be changed during the lunch, the staff were kind to allow us to do so in their office area.

Not worth the price. I ordered food for 20 people, they said expect 9 half trays but they sent 21. they sent food for like 100 people. So much food wastage. Very week communication on expectations. Also food felt stale, and naan was very hard when consumed.
Jalsa catered our wedding on July 5th 2025 in Napa, and they did an excellent job catering to our guests and providing excellent food and service. We've included individual reviews from each of them, but we would highly recommend them for your wedding:
Rishabh: Jalsa provided amazing food and the presentation was superb. Great fusion food, flexible service, and adequate staffing for all the events. Resmi and Lakshmi were both very responsive and attentive to our guests' needs. Would highly recommend them as caterers for any type of event.
Kaj: Jalsa brings the luxury to Indian Weddings. Reshmi and their team did an amazing job elevating our wedding to insane heights. Our guest loved every minute of the food, presentation, and live demos throughout. We loved working with them and their attention to detail is quite insane. Thank you for working with us and making our wedding a memorable experience.

Jalsa catered our Diwali parties last year and on both occasions the food , service and quality was excellent. The team is very professional and accommodating to our personalized requests. Will definitely be considering them for all future parties.
Thank you Jalsa team!
Loved the end to end experience working with Jalsa! They catered for a wedding and loved how the service was- from deciding the menu, tasting, quick communications, on time delivery at the venue, delivery of hot pots and pickup services.
