Went on a Sunday to try the Rajasthani thali. Everything was amazing, especially the deal baati and dahi kebab.

This used to be a great place. But now it has become an average restaurant with slow service. This is a name only unlimited thaali restaurant, I asked for the dishes more than 3-4 times and it wasn’t crowded. I wish they improve and become better. I would rather go to other unlimited thaali restaurant.

After a tiring vacation, this was exactly what we were looking for – a meal that feels homely yet festive, relaxing and soul-satisfying in every sense. Royal Thaali in Milpitas delivered just that, and then some! The bright and cheerful space was bustling with families and groups, all diving into their unlimited thalis with visible delight, and we were about to join that happy brigade.

What makes their thali special is how every element fits together like little pieces of a puzzle, each complementing the other so beautifully, or should I say, so tastefully. The meal began with a nicely churned and spiced buttermilk that arrived promptly, setting the tone for what was to come. As the server started filling all the little utensils on our plate, our appetite built up steadily, almost like watching a performance unfold before the main act.

The kala chana masala was a pleasant surprise – usually this dish comes devoid of any gravy, but here it had this thin, soup-like consistency that was lightly spiced and tasted incredibly refreshing. It paired beautifully with the accompanying kadhi, creating a harmony that was comforting and familiar. The dry paneer curry had that rustic, dhaba-like quality with minced tomatoes and onions that took me straight back to roadside eateries on highway trips.

But the show-stealer, hands down, was the aloo curry made with karela. Now, karela isn't everyone's favorite, me thinks, but the way they've incorporated it here offered a unique and pleasant bitter taste that elevated the entire dish. It was bold yet balanced, and honestly, I couldn't stop going back for more. The cabbage curry was as homely as it could be, the kind your grandmother would make on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

What really impressed me was the service – the ghee-laced phulkas and masala pooris kept coming to our table piping hot, even without us asking for them. The staff was attentive and the refills came just at the right time, making the entire experience nothing short of impeccable. There's something to be said about a restaurant where the service flows so seamlessly that you barely notice it happening.

And then came the desserts, which were truly the icing on the cake. The kheer arrived perfectly chilled, laced generously with kesar, and tasted phenomenal. Each spoonful was creamy, fragrant, and just the right amount of sweet. But what blew me away was the malai kalakand – easily the freshest I've had anywhere in the Bay Area. It was soft, milky, and had that melt-in-your-mouth quality that only comes from using the finest ingredients and making it fresh.

All in all, Royal Thaali is something you absolutely should not miss if you're in Milpitas and around.

It is worth one time visit. Food is good but not something you will want to visit again and again for. Staff is really good and friendly.

The food is fresh, flavorful, and comes with a great variety in the thali. Portions are generous, service is friendly, and it really feels like a true taste of India. Definitely worth a visit!

Pretty bad wait time, not organized well at all, there were vacant seats but we were not being seated. Took more than 1.30 hrs during Sunday lunch to be seated.
