Simply Cakes and Cupcakes

I got a small smash cake and a dozen assorted cupcakes for my nieces first bday. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the hostess cupcake! Sooo good! I’d for sure order again. Quick turn around and very good customer service.

this red velvet custom cake was to absolutely die for. it truly was the perfect ending of our surprise birthday party for my boyfriend! thank you for taking pride in your work and making this such a memorable and special day!

I wouldn’t say it’s the best but it’s alright..
You can tell they use marshmallow for their fondant. Ehhh I don’t like marshmallow fondant, it’s too sweet. I really had high expectations because of their reviews but I was a bit disappointed. The staff were nice though.

Such an amazing encounter. My sister was overwhelmed with wedding prep and did not order a cake for her special day. I called 2 hours ahead of closing with a last minute small wedding cake order. Not only did the staff handle us with care and ease but, they also went above and beyond by calling to suggest flowers in the color of the writing on the cake which made the cake that much more beautiful! The cake was delicious and the perfect size. Vanilla with raspberry filling. Even the driver was able to make it back in time to deliver the cake to the restaurant of the reception. My sister was in awe and said it was the cherry on top of her special day. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to the amazing team at Simply Cakes and cupcakes Laguna Beach. You all saved the day!

I had forgotten to put an order for my daughter’s 2nd b-day which was entirely my fault and had only a week to do so. 😱But the staff were so amazing and kind to accommodate my order of 1/2 dozen cupcakes (1/2 chocolate and 1/2 carrot flavors) for my Beatrix Potter/Peter Rabbit theme. They tasted delicious and the design of a cabbage on one and tiny carrot for the other turned out so cute just the way I wanted! I did originally have a white picket fence to individually wrap the cupcakes, but my baby got to it before I did. It’s okay though. The pink gingham still worked in the end…lol

What a delightful experience at this bakery. I called 5 days before my granddaughter's 5th birthday to order a cake for her. I was told that they were completely booked up with cake orders for the weekend, and that they could do cupcakes. Since my granddaughter had her heart set on a cake, I asked if they could do a simple unicorn design. Anna told me to send a pic of what I had in mind, and they would see what they could do. So I did, and she sent back a cake pic that was beautiful and more detailed than I expected. The cake we picked up was absolutely stunning and the taste was delicious. I am so happy that we have discovered this bakery and will order from them anytime I need a dessert for a party. They also were extremely communicative and personable. Bakeries are hard to find these days, and good ones are a real treasure:)

I placed an order (over 1 month in advance) for 20 cupcakes and 15 cake pops for a baby shower. I was charged extra because I asked for buttercream flowers on top of the cupcakes (which was considered custom). I also ordered cake pops with various pastel pink, green, yellow, blue colors to match the theme.

I was required to pay for the entire order in advance. No refunds.

I dropped in a couple weeks prior to the shower just to confirm the instructions. The order was written for the correct date but not the correct day. (It was supposed to be Saturday and was down as Sunday). Whew, glad I checked. No biggie. We fixed it and all was set.

Shower day:
The cake pops were pretty and tasted good, but there were only pink and blue -no yellow, or green. I mentioned it when I picked them up and was told it was a misunderstanding with the directions on the order. It certainly was not the end of the world, so I left without making it an issue.

The cupcakes did have flowers as I requested and tasted great, but I ordered choc, vanilla AND red velvet. Unfortunately, once I arrived at the shower, it became obvious there were no red velvet cupcakes.

Like I said, everything was tasty, but I am disappointed. They are only cupcakes and pops, but the added expense and terms didn’t live up to the expectations.

Most bakeries require only a deposit with payment in full at the time of pick up.

Bottom line - there are many places to pick from. I won’t be going back for the many birthdays and other parties this child is going to have.

Where do I start, so a couple weeks ago I was searching for a place to creat a special order cake for my son’s birthday. I found the perfect idea online and contacted numerous bakeries in Orange County and sent a photo of exactly what I wanted. Most of them responded and stated they were not capable of making the cake. I found Simply cakes who stated they could make the cake and I moved forward with them. I provided them a picture of exactly how I wanted the cake to look. Well, on the day of pick up I was in shock. The cake was not what I had pictured at all. The quality of the design was just not there, the shape and width of the cake was not correct. The tire tread was not exact and you could tell it did not blend in well with the design of the cake. I was highly disappointed and in all honesty, I did not want to even pay for the cake but I had no choice since my son’s birthday party was two hours after pickup. If you are going with a custom cake, I would not recommend simply cakes . I did have to provide the topper myself which I had already agreed upon.

Ordering custom unicorn cupcakes for my daughter's birthday party was a smooth, easy process. The owner called me the same day I submitted my request to get details about what I would like and contributed his recommendations. I could not have been happier with the results. The cupcakes turned out beautifully and were incredibly delicious - moist cake without overly sweet frosting. I was so impressed with the whole process and will use Simply Cakes and Cupcakes in the future.
