I’m just sitting here at 1am with insomnia thinking about this place. I had a craving for Afghan food the other day so I did a little search and this appeared. Got a lamb shank for the spouse and a chicken platter for myself and now I crave more. Soft bread, perfect rice, savory bits of chicken and cumin spiced chickpeas were all quickly devoured. Likewise with the lamb shank dish. What did Modesto do to deserve a place like this?Only thing to note is the dining room isn’t immediately obvious from the store front. Don’t feel like you’re in the wrong place if you go in and all you see is market shelves. Just turn immediately left and then you’ll be in the dining area. I went ahead and grabbed a bag of Polish milk fudge while I was waiting there. Love little finds like this.

The lamb meat here is very fresh and price was reasonable. The owner was very humble and polite.This would be my go to place for buying halal meat in Modesto. I have not tried food here yet but I believe it would turn out to be good as well.

i have ZERO complaints. we're from NJ/NYC contracted in Modesto for work. and you know NJ/NYC is THE mecca for cultural food explosion & exploration. found this randomly going to family dollar a couple weeks ago and thought, hey let's try this bc we're on middle eastern/halal/afghan food withdrawal. the reviews are LEGIT. this is seriously 5 star. highly recommended if you know good food & flavors. will definitely be coming back. thank you so much Sultan Darbar!!! btw we got the combo rice platter. ?AND...this tastes better than Halal Guys back home...you be the judge...

We love this restaurant. The chicken is so moist, perfectly spiced. The rice was to die for. The Naan bread that came with it, makes us keeping going back for more. The staff was so welcoming and kind. We bought melon there as well, that I had never seen, it was so juicy and sweet. The Market and Restaurant Ive recommend to everyone I know. You go once and become a regular.
