“This is one of my favorite places to go! The wine selection is wonderful and the staff is knowledgeable about the wines. The food is incredible. We always got the bruschetta with burrata and it's great. The balsamic reduction drizzled on the top with pesto and tomatoes is just lovely. We recently tried the smoke, whipped feta. We had a hard time not finishing the whole thing, it was that good! I've taken so many friends here. My company has get togethers here from time to time. At this point this place is just part of my culture. Camp 4 has been in Modesto for a while and we are lucky to have it!”

“My first detailed review since this is one of the first AYCE hot pots in Modesto, and I want to give my thoughts about it, so apologies for the long paragraphs I'm about to type! Let me tell you something. It's been a hot, HOT minute that I've been to an AYCE hot pot, and it's in the Bay of course (e.g. Shabuway). I was curious to try this out yet it's one of the first locations in the U.S. (mainland), the rest are in Hawaii. By the ambiance, it was super clean and came in on a normal Tuesday with my dad, when they just opened. However, during the weekends, be prepared for the wait time, as it's best to be a bit early before it closes so that you have a chance to try this place. Now onto the experience. As usual AYCE Shabu Shabu places, you order the soup base and order your meat. During lunch (which I went), meat (unless you pay extra for their premium meat), the sides, and the sauce bar are unlimited. I picked the miso base while my dad picked the seafood base. The conveyor belt on the side to have easy access in getting your sides, which honestly is so cool to take as many as you like. Also if you order meat, there will be a cute train delivering them to you, which is also cool to see. For the taste? Chef's kiss. Miso is super rich and yummy, while the seafood is good too. Haven't tried the other flavors but planning to order some next time. You can only order one soup base though and can't change a different soup base. However you can ask your server to ask for more broth, just that the flavor will be in original. The meat is fresh and tender, as well as my sides complement beautifully with the soup. Dipping sauces also complement too, and that sesame sauce...my GOODNESS. It reminded me of one of the sauces I tried in a KBBQ restaurant. In conclusion, for the atmosphere, unlimited meat, sides, and sauces, plus the quick service, $24 for lunch AYCE is worth it. And especially since I didn't see one AYCE hot pot location in Modesto, this is a start for many people to hang out and enjoy the comfort of eating Shabu Shabu without driving to the Bay. Trust me, if you're waiting for an hour on a busy Saturday, it'll be WORTH. THE. WAIT. :)”
“Looked at this place a few times and my husband and I finally stopped by today. Taylor is super sweet and attentive. I appreciated her suggestions as they no longer carry the beyond burger. Most places don't care and will let you look at the menu or leave but she came back by and let me know everything they could make vegetarian and how the could accommodate me. Super kind of her and it let us know how much she cared. We stayed and the food was great. Another great place to add to our lunch dates. Everything was cooked to order. Great ingredients and produce was fresh. It wasn't loud and the temp inside was cool for it being hot outside. My husband enjoyed his burger it was cooked perfectly and he said the bacon was great...crispy not whimpy and not burnt it was just right. My soda was fizzy and it was clean inside. I had a wonderful grilled cheese with all the produce. The tomatoes were delicious you could tell they would go great on their BLT.Thank you Taylor!!!”

“So I don’t ever do reviews for anything but I was just so impressed that I am compelled do to so. Ive been looking for a legit local spot for ramen for a while now, and a lot of the places around here just fall flat. I feel the people preparing the food here actually care about the quality they put out to the dining room. Every aspect of the ramen was taken into consideration and it showed. I had the tonkotsu ramen with black garlic and cha shu, and it was absolutely amazing. The pork was roasted and seasoned well, the egg was properly marinated and the broth was deep and rich with flavor. I was so full but still wanted to finish what little I had left. I HIGHLY recommend and I can’t wait to go back. massive w.”

“Make sure to get some baklava with your order -- it's excellent! The burgers are large and delicious, the standard fry order is large enough to split, and the fish & chips are pleasant. If you phone in an order and live within a couple miles, you can head right over and it'll usually be ready when you get there. This is a better restaurant for takeout than dine-in, as eating space is small and basic -- though there are outside tables as well. Staff are always very nice and orders are accurate.”

“Ambiance: Love this little hole in the wall. It isn't the most spacious restaurant, but the atmosphere is cozy. I love how the lighting is slightly dim. Food: For appetizers I get the spicy edamame if it's just me. If I'm out with company, I'll order spicy edamame and either combo tempura or the takoyaki. Entrees: I love getting either the tonkatsu ramen or pork Katsu curry, along with two sushi rolls. I typically order the King Kong roll or the rainbow roll. But honestly, I have never ordered something and not liked it. Pricing: In my opinion; slightly higher prices for the valley, but still affordable for sushi, seafood, etc. But if it goes up any higher then (in my opinion) it would not be worth it. And I say this, as I've had higher quality fish for around the same price. Service is nice. Although, at times it can be a little chaotic. There was one instance in which the waiter somehow messed up our reservation. Which led to us being seated about an hour from closing, and so the staff was rushing us. Overall I nice little gem. One of my favorite sushi spots in Modesto.”

“We love coming here! We came in today and had Christian as our waiter. He did an awesome job, and he very polite and respectful. We started off with the espresso martini and a Long Island iced tea, 10/10. For appetizers we got the flaming cheese with pita (so good) 10/10. We also tried the crab cakes today. They were not my favorite, had a bit of a fishy taste. Next we had a Greek salad 10/10 and the lemon chicken soup 10/10 (my favorite). We then got the fresh fish brochette w/ veggies and rice pilaf. This was delicious!! 10/10. I got the chicken Marsala w/ rice pilaf and veggies. The rice pilaf and veggies were very good tasting but I did not like the chicken Marsala sauce. Overall, food was amazing I usually order the pastas and they are great too!! 10/10 environment, service, and food!”

The ribeye was simply divine, cooked exactly to our liking and melting in our mouths with each savory bite. “I recently visited a Thai restaurant downtown and had an incredible experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was truly spectacular; we ordered the coconut milk soup with veggies, green curry eggplant, Gen Tso Tofu, and fresh spring rolls. Everything was served promptly and prepared to perfection. Although we encountered a slight issue with one of our dishes, the staff were very considerate and addressed our request promptly. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and we will definitely be returning in the future.”

I took my daughter in law and niece to Veronas based on the delicious dinners I have had at their Copperopolis restaurant by the same name. Looking for an upscale restaurant in Modesto Veronas would prove to be a Great find. Different menu but same quality! Our meal was Hot upon arrival, including delicious appetizers that included bruschetta and jumbo shrimp in a fresh tomato sauce base with some spicy touches.?️ aka Gamberetti di Aglio The owner Heime stepped out of his kitchen and welcomed us to his Modesto restaurant and was genuinely engaging...so unusual for a chef of this level! Our loyalty was secure at his "welcome" to my Modesto restaurant. My choice was the sole with fresh crab as part of the entree...with a delicious reduction sauce and perfectly sautéed vegs! My guests had the Papperdelle with tastes of short ribs and HOME MADE PASTA! Sauces were amazing! culinary talent - extraordinaire! Add A bottle of Pinot Noir and we were very happy.. But the best was yet to come! Dessert: Lemon infused cake with raspberry drizzle AND tiramisu I was proud I selected Veronas to treat my guests to! ?? I cant say enough about the attentive and subtle service! A great staff, great food and great Owner! I have decided Veronas is my place to take my family & friends when I want to extend the best possible setting for a lovely and delicious evening!”

“Finally tried this place. Hard to want to try a place that people review bomb negatively for no reason. Wife and I shared an order of fajitas. I had a Modelo Chelada. Everything was great including the service. There could have been more meat than veggies though. Otherwise, it was a pretty good experience. We also had the fried ice cream! Delicious!! I'd give it 4 stars but giving it 5 because people are ridiculously critical.”
“I've been here many times and it's always been enjoyable. I've tried every ramen and I'm working on the rice bowls now. My personal favorites so far are the ichiraku ramen, the bulgogi ramen, and the katsudon. The takoyaki are also always enjoyable but they can be a bit pricey so I've only had them twice. So glad we did the food was piping hot and super fresh tasting best flavored Chinese food I've had in a long time . Big portions too . We ordered the kung Pao chicken , chicken fried rice , house chow mein ,pot stickers, and popcorn chicken . We ate a good portion at the restaurant and not exaggerating we brought home enough for the next two days . We will definitely be back .”

Pro tip, the dinner menu starts at 4 so we missed the lunch menu by a few minutes. It's inside a little strip center so not very visible from the street. “The place is great. There are clean chairs and the floor is clean. When i went to the bathroom it was really clean too. When I ordered the food the cashier had great manners and when I got the food it was great and I got a Oreo shake and that was great and I ordered a double weastern and that was so good. We recommend the homemade tiramsu , this has to be the best tiramsu we had ever had, I almost don't want to write this review because I don't want too many people knowing about this secret gem, also because we didn't need any reservations. They do have vegan cheese, and it is not an upcharge or anything, but were out of vegan mozzarella and only had vegan cheddar the day I ordered. The owner was kind enough to check with me at pick-up if I wanted vegan cheddar cheese on my pizza, and added a bunch in a ziploc bag for me to top the pizza at home. The current vegan cheese being offered is Vevan brand, which a lot better and less goopy (and off-putting to some) than Daiya.As for ordering online, there is no explicit vegan option for cheese which I'd normally be a bit worried about. There was no upcharge for vegan cheese either since it wasn't an option. I simply requested vegan cheese in the dietary restrictions / allergies section.Overall probably the cheapest vegan pizza option in town with a crust I really like. I ordered their super tacos plate, which is something I would recommend. I ordered the carnitas, Al pastor and chorizo. Personally, the carnitas was the best tasting taco. The family ordered chicharrón and they really enjoyed it. Other family members ordered asada tacos. They said that they liked it, but it wasn't something they would get again as the carnitas was better tasting. A plate of BBQ ribs was ordered as well. They enjoyed the plate, however, they also ordered a super taco on the side. After that taco, they said that they would recommend the super tacos over the BBQ ribs. Even though the meat was super tender. The parking lot is small, and so is the inside. When we arrived, there wasn't many people eating in, however, there were several orders to go. It seems that most people go for their carnitas and the chicharrones. Would definitely be going back for more super tacos!”

Our loyalty was secure at his "welcome" to my Modesto restaurant. My choice was the sole with fresh crab as part of the entree...with a delicious reduction sauce and perfectly sautéed vegs! My guests had the Papperdelle with tastes of short ribs and HOME MADE PASTA! Sauces were amazing! culinary talent - extraordinaire! Add A bottle of Pinot Noir and we were very happy.. But the best was yet to come! Dessert: Lemon infused cake with raspberry drizzle AND tiramisu I was proud I selected Veronas to treat my guests to! ?? “Jumpin' jambalaya! We love Huck's (AKA Huckleberry's)! This is Louisiana/Cajun style food. I say "style" because it is pretty "Americanized" or not as spicy as the real thing. However, I still really like it. In case you did not know: a lot of the Perkos in the area are being converted to Huckleberry's. They are owned by the same company. The only downside is that Huck's menu is not as vast as Perkos, and the hours are a lot shorter. Huck's closes at 3:00 pm. I posted a few photos. I love the special breakfasts that come with two fried green tomatoes! I had never tried a fried green tomato before. I love them at Huckleberry's! With their spicy ranch. The breakfast special is usually a bananas foster French toast. I like it a lot, I believe it comes with eggs (cooked to order), and bacon. Absolutely love that they will deep fry my bacon, and not microwave it like some restaurants do when you ask for crispy bacon. I love the gumbo too. We used to be able to substitute soup instead of fries, when we order the chicken strip meal. Now their register won't allow it. If you want soup it is separate, and not too cheap either. It was a better deal as a substitute. Or even if they had an add-on. That is one of my favorite dishes is a bowl of the gumbo soup! It has rice, tomatoes, okra, andouille sausage, chicken, and an extra helping of yum!! (Seriously good) It isn't spicy at all, which I like. My guys would like it to have a bit more kick. Their customer service is good too. The manager and the waitstaff are very friendly. Now, I'm wishing I was at Huckleberry's! I hear my stomach growling! Lol! Until next time...”

The second course was short ribs with mashed potatoes and veggies. A little pepper would have helped, but still the meat was very tender, potatoes creamy and veggies with just the right crunch. Dessert was creme brulee, yum, one of my favorites.We had a large group and sat outside in the patio. The food was good. We tried several appetizers and they were excellent. My chicken dinner was only OK, but my husband loved his steam. Dewz, though, had an even better streak in his opinion. When the sun went down, there was outdoor heading and fire puts to keep us warm. Two nights later Surla's catered a dinner at the Vet Center and that was fantastic. We'll be back.”

They have classic table options, but they also have the Sushi, bar in the center that has probably 50 or so boats carrying sushi that slowly rotate around the tables, the people that work here are great. in the back also they have a classic Asian buffet, which has most options you would find at others including my favorite coconut shrimp.”

I learned from experience that the trick reigniting candles, while great for photo ops if you have eager candle blowers, are not-so-great for indoors as they do put off aloooot of smoke.
