“Ambiance: Love this little hole in the wall. It isn't the most spacious restaurant, but the atmosphere is cozy. I love how the lighting is slightly dim. Food: For appetizers I get the spicy edamame if it's just me. If I'm out with company, I'll order spicy edamame and either combo tempura or the takoyaki. Entrees: I love getting either the tonkatsu ramen or pork Katsu curry, along with two sushi rolls. I typically order the King Kong roll or the rainbow roll. But honestly, I have never ordered something and not liked it. Pricing: In my opinion; slightly higher prices for the valley, but still affordable for sushi, seafood, etc. But if it goes up any higher then (in my opinion) it would not be worth it. And I say this, as I've had higher quality fish for around the same price. Service is nice. Although, at times it can be a little chaotic. There was one instance in which the waiter somehow messed up our reservation. Which led to us being seated about an hour from closing, and so the staff was rushing us. Overall I nice little gem. One of my favorite sushi spots in Modesto.“
“Wonderful people and great food! They're always so kind and courteous the entire time you're there. They'll even walk across the store to hold the door open for you-- which is totally unnecessary but absolutely appreciated. I've started coming here often. Try it out if you haven't!“
“Hands down, really good Japanese sushi, better than any I've tried in the East Bay. We happened upon this place while looking for sushi on the way back home from Yosemite. I think it really makes all the difference when sushi restaurants are owned by actual Japanese people. The rice is better, theres a good balance between the rice and the filling, and they have real Japanese ingredients like gobo. The vegetable tempura and agadashi tofu were also delicious. Will definitely stop by again when we go out that way. The only thing, I'm surprised the prices were so steep for Modesto.“
“Raw Sushi Bistro is fantastic. The best sushi you could possibly get in the 209 area. The restaurant has a great ambiance. It's very clean and dimly lit. The sushi itself is impeccable. The staff is very fast and very nice. I highly recommend Raw Sushi Bistro for anyone that loves sushi.“
“We moved to the San Joaquin county a year ago and have been looking for a good Japanese restaurant, and this is it. The foods, the atmosphere and the services were just right. Not too fancy, but way above average. We ordered the deluxe boat, deep-fried softshell, oysters, and other things, and they were all good. The place was clean and the waitresses were quite pleasant. I was surprised the prices were a little cheaper than many other Japanese restaurants in the valley.Parking: Their parking lot is spacious and have enough space for all customers.“
“The service is good, the food is good and probably standard price for this type of food. The ambiance is nice it is gated from the rest of the tables probably because they serve alcohol? I think it cool that a place at GrubHub serves drinks more places should serve drinks there.“
“I got the Takoyaki, Gyoza, and magic school bus with a sprite. The gyoza was perfectly cooked. Slightly crunchy as was fried yet the pork filling was perfectly temped for a delightful eat. The takoyaki was hot to the core but pleasant as it was tamed by the cold ponzu and mayo toppings. Finally the magic school bus specialty roll was by far the best finisher as was fulfilling with the smoked salmon, shitake mushroom, and cream cheese pairing topped by a delicious ponzu sauce. A much better roll than a simple Philadelphia roll any day in my opinion. Overall good, just wish it could've been more affordable.“
“I work in the same complex as this restaurant and it had really good reviews. I got to talking to the owner, and he was super awesome and made my order specific to me. GREAT food!! I was burning my mouth bc it was hot, but it was too good so I didn't care.“
“one of the the Best & authentic spots for quick and simple yet very heartwarming teriyaki dishes.customer service is very straightforward and a vibe of old school greet-ful love- very positive atmosphere and respectful here.everything listed on menu you can’t go wrong, as i have no complaints on my end.but i do have my favs.. please do try their # 12. ( i know i don’t have a photo on this review to show - truly you won’t be disappointed though, a simple combo of fried rice / chow mein and their flavorful teriyaki grilled chicken. Now! as their quick finger food or appetizer, definitely the Eggrolls as shown on photo.. something about their catchy tasty ingredients. meaty and crunchy with the veggies all mixed well! it’s addictive that it’s a must for me to grab a tray.“
“I loved the food here. I cooked most of it myself, lol. They also have the option to not do your own cooking, but it is definitely a fun experience. The sushi rolls here are delicious. In particular, the Gorilla Roll, which is my all-time favorite. Great service and friendly staff. I definitely recommend this place.“
“First time here and I was very impressive. One of the only few sushi spots in Modesto open past 9 pm. The service was very phenomenal. The staff kept checking up on us and made great suggestions. I would definitely recommend the bento dinner box with the honey sesame chicken and the spicy dragon roll.Parking: Parking is huge. Lots of parking up front.“
“Food tasted great, prices are great, servings are big, and staff was super friendly and considerate. I was super suprised coming here and will be back soon. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and interoir too.Parking: There is more parking around the back and side of the restaurant.. as the olaza has alot of little shops“
“Thinking about sushi and a good deal stop in. The service was very on point. We never worried about an empty glass or what to order. Our server was very attentive. We watched the game, drank sushi bombs and gobbled down a few rolls with fried tempura. Oh the miso soup was pretty tasty too. My dinner partner said they have really good deals on rolls on certain days. I think he said Monday through Thursday but im not positive. We went on Sunday and I didn't pay so I'm not sure how much dinner cost. Definitely going again and wanting to try other options.“
“So I don’t ever do reviews for anything but I was just so impressed that I am compelled do to so. Ive been looking for a legit local spot for ramen for a while now, and a lot of the places around here just fall flat. I feel the people preparing the food here actually care about the quality they put out to the dining room. Every aspect of the ramen was taken into consideration and it showed. I had the tonkotsu ramen with black garlic and cha shu, and it was absolutely amazing. The pork was roasted and seasoned well, the egg was properly marinated and the broth was deep and rich with flavor. I was so full but still wanted to finish what little I had left. I HIGHLY recommend and I can’t wait to go back. massive w.“
