20 years ago if I was anywhere near Modesto I would stop here and get a meal to eat and then take some home. Lately I found myself thinking of this place only to find out that Foster farms no longer owns it the people that took it over from Foster forums retired and there is now a new owner. I don't like giving negative reviews but I feel I have to this time. The grease they cooked the chicken in is rancid they need to change it out of chicken breasts. It's not what I expected or remember. And now it's a clear conscience I can take it off my list of places to patronize. I'm sure the new owners are trying very hard but you have to remember change your grease regularly nothing makes food tastes worse then rancid grease.

I love this place. The food is very good (for fast food), and the service I've gotten has been excellent. The last time I was there was November of 2025, so not that long ago. I particularly like their chicken strips, potato wedges, and cole slaw. They've got some very tasty dipping sauces. If you're into spicy, I highly recommend you try their yummy Mango Habanero sauce! You can't go wrong here. Many people do, I know, but most don't realize this used to be a Foster Farms Chicken restaurant, owned and run by them. I ate there regularly back in the 1970's and 1980's, so I have a ton of fond memories of that. The parking there can vary widely. During Christmas time, for example, finding parking can be difficult. Most times though, parking is plentiful. Go make some memories of your own. CobraRGuy

We used to eat here for years. The employees don’t listen correctly. For the price they should make sure everything is correct. Not to mention the portions are ridiculous for what they charge. Sad to see one of our favorite places going down hill. In this economy, I’m surprised they’re still open. I guess they just hire anybody now.

I ordered the grilled chicken Caesar salad wrap. It Was disgusting because the chicken was charred and burnt so the whole wrap just tasted like burnt charred chicken. I called in and spoke to the general manager, Sarah. She assured me that I could come in whenever and have it remade and that she had my name written down in a book. I also kept my receipt just in case. When I tried to go in to get it replaced, Sarah was not working and the man working, I believe his name was Brandon, basically accused me of lying and told me that I could not get it replaced because it wasn’t within 48 hours when the manager Sarah never said anything about coming in within 48 hours. I live 30 minutes away so it’s not that easy for me to travel 30 minutes out of my way to get a damn wrap. Never felt so disrespected. Like I need to lie about a wrap to try to get a free lunch. Maybe don’t burn it in the first place.
The manager and the owner went above and beyond to provide fantastic customer service. Thank you!

I recently tried chicken barn after living in Modesto for 20+ years. Food is decent, but every time I go, the drive thru wait is so long. There isn't even a lot of cars and it still takes forever!

Ordered a 40 nugget meal that comes with a 2 liter. Asked what sodas they had. Was told they only had diet Pepsi, asked to get soda cups instead of the 2 liter. Was told that's fine. Then they tried to charge me for each soda instead of the exchange. If a customer is paying 80$+ dollars for a meal that comes with a soda anyways you should probably just work with the customer and offer something in exchange instead of charging them for something they already are paying for.
