The flatware was dirty. We had to exchange it 3 to 4 times. It had food scraped marks on it. The kind you get when you don't clean the dishes , before you put them in the dishwasher . Some people think that the dishwasher is to do all the work. You have to scrub the food off the flatware , then place it in the dishwasher to get cleaned and sanitized. It is so gross , because of the times we live in too. Just think of hundreds and thousands of people using the saying flatware...
It's not that the velvet grill isn't great. They are. But, when I go to a greasy spoon, I like cheap, good food fast. My Garden Cafe is the best example I've had in the Modesto area of what I mean. Nothing fancy, just good home cooked meals delivered fast and hot. Good food at reasonable prices. Staff is friendly. Occasionally coffee or soup is not as hot as it could be but they take of it. Portions are good value for sure. Pancakes are amazing. Have been going to Velvet Grill on Dale Road for years. My favorite breakfast place in Modesto.
