terrible decision i’ve ever made. i’ve ordered a curry beef stew with rice and fried chicken leg with egg over rice. after 15 mins, one of the staffs came and said there’s no more rice, and i was like what? there’s no rice in a chinese restaurant? r u kidding me? i was like well it doesn’t really matter, and i changed both of them to fried noodles. after another 15 mins, one of the staffs came again and said oh there’s no more curry beef stew and the staff said there’s only pork left, i was like dude???? there’s literally nothing in the restaurant. ridiculous. and it took like 45 mins to get my lunch. everything’s self served, no services at all. water self served, food self served, seats self served. i’d never recommend it. they got nothing

I pass by this place numerous times but the tinted windows and non-descript store front make it hard to know there's even a restaurant here. Self-served concept. Came this morning but nothing's put out like fork, bowls. have to keep asking staff for it. Food was okay. Usual HK Cafe food.

Like the fact you order up front and no tip is necessary. So don’t expect A+++ service. Great value for the combo deal. If you enjoy porridge there is definitely a choice for you.

Self-serve restaurant, just like a fast-food place but a bit more expensive. Need time to understand the menu.

Even though no tip is required and there are some discounts, such as buying a bowl of chicken rice for $1 next time, I will not choose this restaurant next time because the food is really low-tech and there is no service. Even the seasoning was done by oneself, the table was set by oneself, and one had to stand for a while when ordering. Due to the lack of service staff, the meal was served for half an hour. The overall experience cannot be compensated for by not accepting tips. , but the meaning and fun of dining out are lost. Without enjoying the service and delicious food, why go out to eat out?

I don't think this is the same Chan Kee I went about 6 month ago, Maybe the owner sold this one and go back to Walnut. I went at 11am on Sunday, usually hard to find table at this time, but it only has 4 tables.congee has no flavor at all, other foods i ordered all taste different than before. I might give another try then decide if I want to come back or not

Food is pretty good.Reasonably priced for reasonably good food.We like trying different combination they have .Their drink is on the not so sweet side. I put generous amount of liquid sugar they provide on the side to my drink. They also have extra condiments for free like peanuts and wonton skin crisp. And they have sweet ish soy sauce. But the best part, just like everybody mentioned is that they do not take tips.As of 2024, when I'm posting this , tipping in greater LA area has gone ridiculous. You now have to do mental math before you go out to eat to calculate how much your food will actually cost . Not on this place.

What a cool bag to keep my food warm for togo takeout! Their food is easy to order, I got the combo F4+G4 and D2+E3 for $30+ and $1 Promo Rick bowl. Traditional Hong Kong taste at cha chan ten. Free drink included. Perfect for breakfast and lunch. Call to order it might take up to 40 mins for fresh meal.

Parking: Free plaza parking, many restaurants and supermarket while waiting.

Kid-friendliness: Open space for any party size.

My spouse was craving "JOK" Congee, she is very picky. Being in Duarte, I did not want to drive to Monterey Park, found Chan Kee on Google search and took a chance. My wife loved it. I tasted it plain without adding any condiment and it is delicious. I order the fish congee, my spouse wanted pork liver and fish combo, but they could not acomodate me. Other than that the young lady was very accommodating. I will Definitely return.

Pretty solid comfort Cantonese food! The flavors were delicious overall. Porridge was delicious and wasn’t too salty. Rice noodles were my favorite and had sesame and hoisin sauces with it. Only thing is that your clothes will smell as the restaurant doesn’t have good ventilation.

Whole entire dining room smells like old burnt oil. Milt tea quality dropped after opening. The tea was sitting too long at the warmer this creating a tannic taste. Very acidic.

What I like is their self-help condiment corner. Recommend to add these condiment, including soy sauce and pepper into the porridge before eating. Their service was not so good, unfriendly.

No nonsense Hong Kong breakfast but limited choices. Jook is good but the condiments is getting skimpy. Used to have free flow of julienned ginger, salted turnips, roasted peanuts & green onions. Not anymore!
