Always good food and service
Everything is excellent except the bathrooms.
We have breakfast at this Mimi's once or twice a month and every visit is always a very warm and pleasant experience. Today our server Zaida was very kind and attentive. The food came out exactly as we ordered and the food tasted wonderful. Thank you Zaida for making our Saturday morning breakfast so wonderful.
Worst corned beef hash that I have ever eaten. Long, stringy, dry tough strands of corned beef mixed with uncooked scallions. Absolutely horrible, tasted like it came from a can. Also food was not hot, probably due to being severely understaffed, only one waiter to serve restaurant that was more than half full. He was great, considering.
I don’t often leave reviews, but Mimi’s Café in Monrovia has truly earned a special place in my heart.
The biggest reason is the outstanding service from our server, Zaida. From the very beginning, she made us feel like family. Her warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care have turned our brunch outings into a weekly tradition. She remembers our order, always greets us with a smile, and ensures everything runs smoothly. We never wait long for our food, and the atmosphere is always welcoming and family-friendly.
If you’re looking for a delicious meal paired with exceptional service, I highly recommend visiting this location. Ask for Zaida—you won’t be disappointed!
Delicious banana chocolate chip muffins.
From the moment we stepped into Mimi’s Cafe for breakfast, but we had no idea just how memorable the experience would be.
The food was good hearty, fresh, and made with care. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the pancakes were fluffy and golden, and the coffee was delicious.
But what truly set this morning apart was our server, Zaida. Her warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care transformed a simple meal into something unforgettable. She greeted us with a bright smile, took the time with us, and managed to anticipate our needs before we even voiced them. From accommodating dietary preferences with ease to offering extra syrup just when we needed it, she made us feel not just like customers, but like welcome guests.
In a world where good service is often rushed or impersonal, Zaida reminded us what true hospitality looks like. Her energy was contagious, and we left not only full but genuinely uplifted by her kindness.
We’ll absolutely be back — not just for the food, but for the exceptional service that made our breakfast feel like the best part of our day.
Zaida was extremely patient with us as we were deciding on our order, and was so friendly and kind! She made our morning just perfect.
We had a reservation at 1pm and seated at 1:40pm. Food was ok. Ambiance was ok. Service was good.
The server is horrible. She forgets stuff the we ask. She don't check in our orders. Literally I have to ask 5-6+ times for napkins, water, utensils. She kept saying she got to but NO she didn't get it. Our food order came out 1/2 the table and they just kept bringing food to the Orher tables that came later then us... I have to keep asking to check on the rest of the orders. Luckily there's a young guy server (I don't know his name) and he is great with getting the stuff we needed and our food. He deserves a tip and she doesn't deserve a tip. I know it's Mother's day and it's busy but you still gotta check on customers and their orders. I know she's hourly pay and it shows.. she work like a turtle.... I would NEVER come back to this location!!! It's just a horrible experience. I should have never made reservation! She gotten my much back and go elsewhere!

Terrible service. Especially by the manager. We were here at 10:30 for a reservation at 10:45. We were seated at 11:30. We ordered at around 12. We left around 1:30. It was all around bad service from start to finish.
Everything was ok. After much discussion of a veggie stir had real meat in it. Remade just ok. Server was fantastic for a young guy. Certainly mad about the stale Un edible muffins I bought. Especially the moldy bran muffin.
Mimis completely ruined Thanksgiving. After working 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, we showed up at 5:20 for our 5:30 pm reservation. The person checking people in said they didn't know how long it would be, but it could be an hour to an hour and a half wait to be seated! We found out they were accepting walk-ins in addition to the reservations. We waited until 6:30 pm. At that point, my husband went inside to see where we were in line. He overheard people who had arrived at 4:00 pm for their 4:30 pm reservations who STILL had not been seated. The check-in person told him we were currently at the bottom of page 2 of people waiting to be seated. Since I have to be up at 5 am for work tomorrow and it was clear we weren't getting seated anytime soon, we just left. I am now sitting at home eating a microwavable meal. Thanks Mimi's for completely mismanaging Thanksgiving. Reservations clearly meant nothing. Walk-ins should have never been accepted if people with reservations were being made to wait several hours past their reservation time. Mimi's will never get my business ever again.

This Mimi's wasn't what we expected. They were understaffed so our waiter would disappear for long stretches and no other server was in sight. We wanted to order coffee and hot chocolate after our meal but they were out of milk. How do you run out of milk if you're a coffee shop and there's a grocery store nearby? The place was run down. There's a location in Whittier that is much nicer.
