We have visited The State twice and both times we have been disappointed with our food. We have ordered short rib tacos (too dry), bruschetta (too sweet), steak (not enough seasoning), Mac and cheese (too heavy)....etc. The ambience is beautiful, and since they've added the gentleman waiters, service has been much better. If they can now just fix their food - this place can be great.

This is my girlfriend and my go to spot in Monrovia and it never disappoints. They always have a special menu so there's an option you can try that isn't on the menu everyday plus they do a pretty great taco tuesday (the tacos are different week to week and they get super creative with it!). Friday and Saturdays you definitely want to make a reservation since it's a pretty popular place. The staff are always SUPER nice too!

Third time is not always a charm.
I’ve been coming here with my girl-friend / co-worker once a month for lunch and a cocktail.
The food always just okay.
The cocktails also okay. I mean how can you mess up a martini.
We usually come here for the superb service, overall.
This third time, Edgar just had no decorum, he unprofessional and should not be in the industry if you don’t have the tact that it’s required to address the patron.
It’s not what he said, it’s how he said it. The attitude, the undertone under he’s breath of words. Just simply rude and disrespectful.
He wanted the booth we were sitting at. He said it had been reserved. But there were plenty of other booths / tables available.
We had ordered food, couple rounds of cocktails. We were consuming. I didn’t get it. But I was not going to entertain a hasty conversation with someone with a poor attitude.
We left.
We’re going to find another spot that will gladly take our business, and our hard earned money too and will treat us with respect for it all.
It’s a shame because we loved it here. If The State in Rancho Cucamonga was not out of our way, we’d go there instead.

Burgers were bomb and the restaurant was pretty chill. The manger was nice and touched the table to ensure satisfaction.
What a fun neighborhood gem! We had never been there before but loved it! My guest and I both had the hamburgers which were fabulous! She had French fries and I had the onion rings. Hers came with a salad and she really enjoyed it. We will definitely go here again. Excellent service! Pamela

My guest and I both had the wedge salad, which was offered on the happy hour menu, which I believe was from 11 AM or noon to 5 PM. The price was only eight dollars, and the salad was quite good. My hamburger was $11, with a one dollar add-on for french fries. I ordered onion rings, but I was served french fries. When I explained this to the waiter, he apologized and brought me onion rings at no cost. Both the hamburger and onion rings were absolutely delicious. Service was excellent. This place is a bargain for wonderful food. I will be back.
