Golden Skewer Restaurant & Banquet Hall

We have been to Golden Skewer many times in the past, but had not been here for several years (don't know why not). But it was my birthday and Mediterranean food sounded good. We were pleasantly surprised by the updated decor, and the menu had a few items I didn't remember seeing previously . . . we found out that the ownership changed a few years ago.

We shared a Greek salad, which was very fresh (and was enough for a party of 4 to share, although there were only two of us). I had the chicken kabob plate which was excellent, and chose only the rice pilaf, but was offered a choice of two sides. There are plenty of entrees to choose from -- and they all look good!

Pita and hummus was complimentary. We were not rushed in any way.

The restaurant has a large banquet room (we held my father-in-law's 80th birthday party here in 2003) and there was a large birthday party in progress, but you wouldn't really know it except for the folks entering the restaurant and heading to the back.

Golden Skewer is an excellent choice . . . prices are modest and the service was very attentive.

Delicious, Delicious, Delicious....just wish they served cocktails and the cookies they would give you with the check, now it's an Andes chocolate, we prefer the cookie.

Had a great experience and great food. Not only is it a good olace to eat for lunch or dinner but they also hosted our private event and offered exceptional service, food, and great atrention to detail. Would definitely recommend this place for occassions or events if you are looking for a place. Thank you once again.

Today I ordered three chicken Lules since I was in the area. I requested extra onions and the meat to be well cooked. Unfortunately I did not receive what I ordered. I was missing the extra onions and the meat did not taste the same as it used to be. Unfortunately the recipe and possibly the meat has been changed since the new ownership took over . There was also something crunchy in the chicken which is not normal. Unfortunately I do not live close by or I would’ve came back for refund. I certainly hope they go back to the original recipe or you will lose our business.

My wife was craving for Mediterranean,Armenian cuisine then I told my wife let's go to the Golden Skewer Restaurant in Montebello. We step in the restaurant then we ask it's a take out then we look at the menu then we decided to order the chicken breast kabobs come with roasted vegetable,hummus,rice pilaf and a pita bread. To took away while because everything is made fresh daily at the restaurant.When our meal real we left and headed home but the aroma from food amazing and also we got a new car scent from the food. I open the container and food looks so good but the taste incredible good so much flavors in the chicken breast kabobs season good cook perfect all the spices seal in chicken while cooking. The hummus was good then I try the rice pilaf also good then roasted vegetable very good then use the pita bread to complete the meal. The garlic spead was good but little bit strong flavor but my wife say it was little bit strong for her.We enjoy the food we need to come back again.

It would be really nice to have some Armenian music playing to enhance the vibe .Also, a very nicely decorated hall to rent for parties and celebrations. A fun time was had by all.

Vegetarian options: Hummus, eggplant, salad, tomato, grape leaves, onions, rice and more.

Parking: Lots of parking near the front door.

The food is very tasty, and the sides are amazing. Carla is by herself but is on top with all the guests. I'm glad I Googled this hidden gem in Montebello.
