The service was great however we were up charged for a taco portion of carne asada to put over my chilaquiles. My breakfast came up to $22 and I had a very small portion of asada. We had previously ordered the same thing before and were only charged $4 more. Pretty ridiculous.

Today 3/3/2024 I walked in because someone said the menudo here is very good. Well, they fall short of that expectation. The menudo was so bad, before I placed my order I thought I was going to take something to go for family at home. After tasting the menudo one spoon of just the broth, I was painfully disappointed. It was the blandness that was the most overwhelming taste that came through. A little bit of salt would do wonders for this restaurant. I should have known better. The restaurant was busy, but mostly older folks whose taste buds must all be gone. I wanted to enjoy the food here, support local and everything. But I won't be going back. I left most of the menudo in the bowl. Afterward, I walked to Taco Bell across the street and had a taco.

Food is actually good, but it is pricey for a fast food place.

The food was not good. My chilaquiles tasted like nachos, menudo was cold, cilantro in my horchata as well. Server was super rude, seemed to be avoiding us, do not recommend.

My wife and I haven't been to Tommy's Family Restaurant for years this is our first time in years. We were surprised interior looks different more modern we like it. We came here to have breakfast then we got seated right away then the hostess hand us the menu. My wife was looking at the menu then she decided order a bowl of albondiga soup and then she order a chorizo plate then I order chili Verde with egg on top. They brought the food fast and the food looks really good then I took a bite of chili Verde with pork it was amazing good and it have a kick to it mean it was spicy but good. The rice and bean were very good lots of flavors in the rice and bean including the eggs it add more flavor to the meal. My wife enjoy her albondiga soup and the chorizo plate next time we need to come again and try different items on the menu.

Ordered 2 posole's for the very 1st time and I was excited to try it hoping it was good. Very greasy and thick, how about maybe four or five hominy only and all bones with little to no meat at all. Very disappointed.

Partner and I came by after a Kaiser office visit, and we were looking for breakfast. I love old school diners, and this definitely had the vibe. I saw that there were some comments about the service being subpar, but that was not our experience. Our server was very friendly and helpful (although she seemed a bit overwhelmed). I did have to ask for the tortillas that supposedly came with my meal and was told that some customers wanted it and some did not. We asked for eggs over medium and they came out pretty easy, very runny (which is fine, it was still delicious). Parking was in the lot, but it was full when we went. Street parking was easy. Bathroom is gendered, single stall - one bathroom for each gender.

I used to come here when I was a kid (maybe 40 something years ago) and I just came back last week. Let me just say that if you're a restaurant and still in business 40 years later and still serving the great tasting meals I remember, you're absolutely doing something (many things) right! Shout out to all of the servers/staff too, so dang friendly and welcoming that their hospitality spills over to the patrons too - my family and I were talking and saying hi to complete strangers before we even got our meal! Must try the chorizo burrito, my fav!

Really liked this place the previous times I've been. But this last time I went for breakfast I couldn't believe how extremely rude the waitress was. I asked if they had flavored creamer for the coffee and she said no that they had some but only for the staff. When I mentioned that I had received some on my prior visit she hit very defensive. She actually asked me "who gave it to you" in a very harsh tone. I was so taken aback, I couldn't believe it. My son and I immediately left. Unfortunately I will never return and will tell all about my horrible experience there. I would suggest they train their staff to be more cordial to their "paying" customers!
