We arrived for our Open Table reservation- the proprietress had difficulty with the reservation. We had requested a window table. There was one set up but it was for a larger party. After some pleading on our part, we got the table and the larger setup was moved (that party never showed up). The place was pretty empty, so I don't understand why we were given hard time fulfilling our request. The food was just okay. My boyfriend had fish & chips which were fine, except that the kitchen used a panko breading instead of the traditional batter. (Traditional is far better) I had the salmon salad. The salad was very lackluster and the salmon was over seasoned. Our waiter started off great but faded away after we received our dishes. Not horrible, but I would not go back.
Cute, family type restaurant. Food was IK...not great. We went there because we wanted the grilled sardines. They didn't have them. I get it. They are not available right now. But, if that's the case, they should either take them off the menu or tell people when get come in. Anyway...we regrouped and had the wood fire grilled oysters, steamed clams and a sear salad with crab meat. Everything was pretty average. I ordered a draft beer that I had to send back. It was flat. My boyfriend had a very mediocre margarita. Service was fine. Overall...I would say.....meh....you could skip this one. There are many better restaurants in Monterey.
One of the best clam chowders I have EVER had! Would definitely have it again!!

We had an amazing experience, the food was delicious, I had fish and chips and the fish was fresh and the fries were crispy and delicious 🤤 there’s delicious veggie options! The waiter Mr Z (Zenón) was very nice, friendly, attentive and funny! ☺️

Six of us dined at Abslonrtti for a celebration lunch. The food (fish & chips, shrimp & chips, calamari tacos, and clam chowder) was delicious! The service was fantastic! I will definitely dine there again, and again.
We went for the experience expecting it to be a bit touristy but a nice location, and it really exceeded our expectations! First off the location on old fisherman’s wharf was indeed great, but the inside of the building was cool too, and the food was great! Very fresh, with the fish and chips and whole gilroy garlic being particular standouts. The service was great too, with Mr Z (Zenon), our host, having a wonderful attitude and really taking the whole experience up a notch. Finally while the prices were perhaps a bit higher than they would otherwise be because of the location, they weren’t as overpriced as we expected for where it was.
The grilled Mahi is the best I've ever had!
As good as it once was. What wonderful memories it brought back to dine at Abalonetti's. It has been at least 30 years since we were last here but, in those days, we spent a lot of time in the area. Abalonetti was one of our favorite restaurants. It has probably changed a bit since then, but it is still the best unassuming restaurant on the wharf. My wife had the sand dabs, and I had the calamari steak. It was excellent. I have to have squid at this restaurant. Our server was very professional, friendly and attentive. The Ceasar salad was as good as it gets. We were so happy that we stopped in.
Great food & experience!
Joe was the best!

Although, I have not dined here yet as a mother of a small child I will be coming here the next time I’m in Monterey! Old fisherman’s grotto has a nasty sign about children, but this establishment seems so warm, welcoming, and friendly! Definitely a restaurant I look forward to visiting soon.

Outdoor dining, fast and friendly service, reasonable prices for a tourist area. We went for a late lunch and it was fantastic.

The restaurant is in a popular place, on the pier. The service was good a polite. The dinner was ok, but I thought it was real expensive.
It was a little chilly. I noticed they had all the doors open. But the service and food were top! We come every time we are in town! Calamari is the Best !!!!!!

We had a lovely lunch. My husband enjoyed one of the brick oven pizzas and I enjoyed the abalone sandwich with fries. Both were delicious as were our drinks.
