Pastries were great sourdough bread disappointing. The crust was flour like instead of that sourdough shine. When you squeezed the loaf it didn’t have that crisp bounce back and the sour flavor was meh. I’m a bread snob so take my review for what it’s worth (or head over to Ad Astra after you get your pastries)

We ordered two salads (both great!) and a bunch of pastries. The pastries were good but I’ve had better. Both the salads were excellent!

Alta is one of those bakeries I always want to stop by when I’m in the area. It’s adorable, there are plenty of savory and sweet options and it’s also enough of a cafe you can make a meal of it. There’s usually a small line but it doesn’t take long. The back garden area is suuuuper sweet. Def worth a stop.

I went to Monterey for a conference and made a stop at Alta because I had seen great reviews online! Long story short the reviews are right! The coffee is great and so are the baked goods! I had a mocha and a chocolate croissant and both of which were amazing! The staff was nice and focused on the large line they had coming out the door but were still pleasant even in the rush. The ambiance was nice with a unique outside area to hangout, study, etc! So definitely check it out for reasonably priced high quality coffee or baked goods! Amazing shop altogether!

So the photos are from multiple visits. My girls and I love this place. we come weekly ish and just order random stuff that looks tasty and then we share everything. I will say some of our favorites are the Earl Grey mousse, Fruit Danish, Bacon Leak Quiche, Pastaicho Roll and there drinks. honestly never had anything bad. the girls always get the avocado toast not pictured. and love it. I suggest trying everything really its just that good. Also the staff is amazing! They never get frustrated with our craziness and the place is doggo friendly 10 outta 10 recommend ohhhh wait the Lavender mousse when they have it is to die for!!

I say nah. I mean, it’s cute. Rustic vibe. The pistachio swirl/ roll was good. But the banana/ dark chocolate was gross. The banana’s were green, and the chocolate was super bitter. I get it. Dark chocolate. But it wasn’t good. And the Coffee? Yikes. Probably the worst I’ve had in years. Bitter espresso. I am sure if I ordered something wild they could have hidden the bitter poorly pulled shot with lavender or something. But no thanks.

Glad there are option here in town now…

Wow what an amazing place to eat, the seating outside was perfect. The food was outstanding and delicious and the cappuccinos were spectacular. Highly recommend the mini doughnuts but i don’t think you can go wrong in there.

Having only tried three places in Monterey, I can’t absolutely guarantee that the best coffee is from Alta, but the best coffee in Monterey comes from Alta. I went back three tomes, and the coffee was excellent each time. I even had breakfast there on my birthday, last Friday, and the smoked salmon on Rye was a winner. My only suggestion would be to reorder the entry so that drink preparation (which takes more time than pastrying bags), should be the entry point ordering spot, to maximize pastry loitering opportunities as guests wait for their coffee, and give in to temptation.

I was left in shock and awe at how awesome the food was here. The quality of the pastries is rather evident. Coffee was creamy 😋 complimented the pastries

The staff were all really nice and helpful.
Cappuccino and cold brew were good. We got some avocado toast with some smoked salmon on the side and a chocolate croissant, both were delicious. There is seating inside and more on the outside toward the back. Definitely would visit again
