Visiting from Los Angeles. Monterey locals love hot water disguised as coffee. Its not coffee. Avocado toast was good.

Owner or whoever that guy was , was extremely rude, and kinda violent, he said he cancelles all my order, and took it from my hand before issuing a refund.
I have a senior dog and it was raining outside
He started to be pushy about my dog, and I just was asking to speed up my order so I can go.
The coffee is small
Like their ducks.

I was in today and this woman came in and let her dog completely off leash to roam around then when asked to not do that she made homophobic remarks to the baristas. This place gets 5 stars because the coffee and how they responded to her. They were firm yet polite when they asked her to leave and the male barista handled it so well.

Been coming to this spot for years. A staple in Monterey County.
I support the Monterey and PG location on a weekly basis. Haven’t been to the Sand City location yet but will go check it out when I’m around that area!

Get the cinnamon roll and London fog! Both are super tasty and great way to start the morning after a nice walk around the coast.

I ordered their cold brew online at the holidays. It was delivered in a box with no mention of the item being perishable. We opened the package a couple of days after receipt - finding it was sent with cold packs that were now completely thawed.

I immediately sent an email asking if the product was no longer safe to consume. Emails were sent 12/22, 12/27, 12/30 and 1/12. None have been responded to. Attempts to call have been met with a number that rings and rings with no opportunity to leave a message.

I’m sending this review to alert ideally this business and its client’s to a complete breakdown in their customer service for their online business.

Update: following this submission I rec’d an appreciated apology from this company. Seems they are working through establishing a set of standard processes concerning their online customer experience. I appreciate the remediation offered and hope they can quickly address gaps in their fundamental customer experience.

We have been coming here for three years and we have loved everything about it. The coffee, the staff, the ambiance. But unfortunately, today was the last time we’ll be in.

We make great coffee at home, so if it’s just good coffee we want, we make it ourselves. We come in here to enjoy a little coffee date with our dog, and we love that they have a canister of dog treats for her.

Today when we went in, the manager came over and informed us that they don’t allow dogs and we’d have to leave. He was respectful and polite, but if they’re not dog friendly, why do they have a dog bowl and dog treats inside? At any rate, we won’t be back, since coming our dog isn’t welcome.

I guess we’ll be going to Starbucks from now on, which is a bummer, because we really like supporting small businesses.

Nice coffee and good atmosphere. Pastry was a bit expensive and tasted like Safeway or any other regular store pastry (fruit pastry 8$+). Brownie was good, but a bit small (4$+). Latte was tasty.
I would return for coffee and for some other croissant. When we came around 1pm unfortunately only few pastries were left, but there were lots of big muffins.
