I was there on December 31st, 2025, enjoying the Monterey First Night. First time patron, I think they call it Nico's now, but don't really remember. Party of two, we were seated promptly and our server was awesome! I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and my friend ordered the sea bass. I have to say, the butternut squash was not great. It had almost no flavor, you couldn't really taste the squash, and the chopped tomatoes and sauce they poured over it was very oily, and like a canola oil not a olive oil. I didn't finish it all and the leftovers were put into a compostable carton, which is good. When I went to finish it the next day, the bottom of the container was saturated with oil. When I heated up the little bit of leftover, there was a small puddle of oil surrounding the sauce. I actually tipped my plate so that the oil would separate. The ravioli came with a couple pieces of crispy chicken, which were average as well, not much flavor. That's what I would say overall, that the entire meal lacked flavor. I tried a few bites of my friend's sea bass and I have to say it was very salty. That was unfortunate, it would have been better to be able to taste the fish rather than the salt. The mashed potatoes were pretty good! I'm not planning on going back. I believe my pasta with chicken was $32. I would rather go to Chart House, as I have never had a bad meal there in 30-plus years and you get a view of the ocean while you eat.

We have been to Cibos for apps. Decided to eat there for NYE. Bad choice! Service was great, the cost for a $300 meal was not! They said the menu would be the same under new owner for NYE, not really. We won't be dining there ever again.

My husband and I visited Cibo today after being drawn in by their eye-catching, mouth-watering Christmas menu. A young man standing outside invited us to take a look at the menu—at first we declined, but something pulled us back, and we decided to give it a try. We’re so glad we did.
We were the first guests seated and were welcomed by a wonderful server named **Garret**. From the start, he was charismatic, friendly, and absolutely hilarious. He offered us garlic bread (though it wasn’t available during happy hour) and soon brought out our two pizzas: one pepperoni and one prosciutto with arugula. Both were delicious. The crust was thin, flavorful, and perfectly cooked—not crunchy, just right.
Garret was not only attentive but also great company. We were visiting from Seattle, and he went out of his way to suggest local places for us to explore, which we really appreciated.
The restaurant itself is beautiful and was decorated so nicely for Christmas, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Between the amazing food, the lovely setting, and Garret’s outstanding service, our experience at Cibo couldn’t have been better.
We highly recommend trying this restaurant—and if you’re lucky enough to have Garret as your server, you’re in for a fantastic experience.

Food and atmosphere was ok but very overpiced. The $38 seabass was disappointly small and very thin. Also the veggie side was mostly grilled brussel sprouts - not great. I'm sure there are much better options in Monterey.

We have come here every year when in town for many years. Went there last night and will never return. Horrible service, we had to go find someone to take our order. Never came back to check on us. Food was meh at best. New decor (stark white walls) was not welcoming. We later learned about the new owner. Explained everything. Go somewhere else.

It seems that it took forever for the waiter to arrive. He was great after he finally came to the table. The host gave us two wine lists, but the waiter told us that the one with the wine I wanted was out of date and that they didn't have any of those wines anymore. The cheapest bottle on the new list was over $60. The food tasted fine, but it didn't resemble the seafood risotto that I ordered. It should really be called seafood soup with rice.
The garlic shrimp sauce is incredible! I wish they served it as a scampi over rice or pasta! Our server was so polite and kind! He was just a respectful gentleman. Even the host standing outside who seated us was fun and energetic and very welcoming!
Ordered the ribeye steak and that was very nice.

2 drinks, 1 double shot makers Mark neat and 1 double shot basil haden neat was $85.
Later, 1 soda water and 1 diet coke was $10.
It's expensive, like chase center watching a warriors game expensive. You've been warned.
Otherwise the DJ was great!

We remember this as a wonderful Italian restaurant, we we told new owners, the worst
Food, Calamari was like rubber bands!!! Pasta was just as bad , we will never forget how bad the food was! Our waiter was constantly yelling at other waiters , telling them what they did wrong! It was like a side show, there was only 5 tables with guests , the restaurant was empty @6:30 , red flag

Garrett was an attentive & proactive server. We'd previously lived here, and flew in to visit our old haunts. This was our second choice for a restaurant; thank God the Crown & Anchor was closed. Garrett made our lunch. We ordered the crab cakes, calamari, clam chowder, poké, and chicken alfredo. We ordered 2 glasses of the napa sauv blanc, and a glass of the paso chard.

I stopped by this Italian restaurant while passing through. We had some appetizers, looked over the menu, enjoyed some wine and water; the service was excellent. I tried their fried artichokes, which were delicious, and the fried calamari, also very good. The food looked exquisite, everything cooked with clean oil and a perfect deep fry. Normally when I eat fried food I sometimes run into unpleasant surprises, but this place was truly spotless. Even the bathroom was very clean. The restaurant has a nice setting, everything looked super tidy and well-kept. I really liked this place and would definitely recommend it. If you ever visit Downtown Monterey, this restaurant will surely be to your liking.

Absolutely the worst place in town. First we were served somebody else’s order. Once we go that returned, I ordered the bell. The sauce was a sweet tomato syrup the veal was just store bought frozen beef. My wife ordered a clam chowder which we had to return because it was so terrible and watery. She ordered a pasta salad that was boiled pasta on a plate with nothing. The food is overpriced and the service is terrible. The plates were worn and dirty. Would not recommend.
