Stumbled upon this place on accident and I'm glad I did. It is what it is, a 50's burger joint/diner. But you could tell the lady manning the counter was doing this full time, and she was on it.Order was taken and food arrived quickly, piping hot. She checked back several times for refills, more fries and to see if I needed anything. The restaurant was quite busy but she still gave me top notch service.Food was spot on, too. I know, just burgers and fries but they do it right.

Not a pleasant experience, and food was underwhelming. Our server wasn't yet on shift when they sat us, which would have been ok if the food was amazing - IT WAS NOT. Shake was runny; chicken strip club was mostly breading, minimal chicken, and the chicken had dark, veiny areas. Salad looked good, but after seeing dark spots in the chicken, I lost my appetite. We ordered two double burgers, got two singles. And I'm not sure how, but they ran out of water. This was an instance where I tipped nothing, I almost felt bad, but it was really an awful experience.

Been to other Red Rocket locations, such as the one in Arden Mall, but the location on cannery row was pathetic. The chefs were occupied with their phones, waiters were forgetful of orders and service was incredibly slow. We sat down at a table and we given our menus and then we sat there, for about 30 minutes. We got fed up and called over a waiter and asked about the wait times and why we were left waiting to order when other tables who'd arrived after us had already ordered their food and we didn't get a definitive answer, just a halfhearted apology and a sigh. Unless their service improves I'd not recommend this particular location to anybody, though I cannot speak for the quality of their food as we were unable to order before we left.

Its not a matter if you're going to wait 45 minutes to get served, it how long after 45 minutes you will get your food. Three times. Manager needs to go for understaffing at peak times (even his server stated that he understaffs to save the company money so he doesn't look bad).

If you're hungry I do not recommend this place turn back around. Everything went wrong. I came all the way from Riverside to here and it was not worth my time. It first started off with the waitress that got our wrong orders. We asked for no pickles and got them in our burger along with un cooked meat. Not only that but one of my friends at the table ordered a rocket dog and instead received a classic hamburger and when she asked where her food was the waitress said it was the burger and that she never got her order after she disagreed. It was horrible customer service since she totally ignored a customer when giving her order. The food came late and even then it took an hour later to receive a shake that was "never ordered". If you like your meat raw this is the place for it, I didn't even eat it once I saw it uncooked. I was disgusted with the place after I saw that. When I went to pay for my order I got the wrong change.

If you're one of those folks who like to gamble on whether your food order will actually arrive, then this is the place for you! GIVE the server your order! WATCH how she messes up your simple drinks order and clearly doesn't give a hoot when you point it out! GAZE at the clock for 40 minutes while your food never arrives! PLACATE your hungry kids who are confused at why Dad's getting angry! GASP at how people who arrived AFTER you, get to eat their food and then leave while you still have nothing! LEAVE the shoddy joint and try somewhere else! This is what happened to us on 2/22/20, a Saturday evening. It was somewhat busy but there were plenty of staff and a few empty tables so no excuses. Just plain incompetence and total lack of customer care. So we timed out and we offered to pay for the (messed-up) drinks order, but our server just shrugged her shoulders and off we went, perplexed and hungry. Funny to read the other reviews of this place where they had identical experiences.

The best I can say is the restaurant is clean. The waitresses smile and seat you right away, then ignore you. I've been to multiple Johnny Rockets and have NEVER been treated like my party nor I existed. After 30+ minutes and people coming in and being waited on and served before us we walked out. Two waitresses, 6 tables..gimme a break that is NOT busy. No reason to ignore tables. Do yourself a favor..STAY AWAY from this one. It just plain sucks.
I recommend their burger sliders they were wonderful everything else was just kind of ehhhh.

The Johnny Rockets on Monterey California is horrible. I cannot comment on the food since we having been sitting here for over thirty minutes before our orders were taken. One waitress took the order of people that came 10-15 after us. When I asked her about it, she simply said "we're short staffed and we'll get there in a few minutes. Then another family came and sat down and another waitress came out and started taking that tables orders before us even though we had now been waiting 30 minutes. I went up to that waitress and she said "the lady inside told me to go out and get the tables order but did not specify which table.

The service is pretty crappy here. The food was ok but the service was horrible. They sat us and then didn't even take our drink order for 30 minutes. That was after we asked a waitress twice if someone could come over.

We came in Friday, Valentine's day. Long day at the aquarium with our one year old son. (It was his birthday). It was pretty busy but got seated quickly. You could tell our server was new but she was doing a really awesome job with only 1 mishap. But the manager on shift corrected it so quickly and comped the onion rings. They also let us charge our phone which was awesome since we were coming from out of town and needed the gps to get home. They gave him his first birthday song with a Sundae again on the house. The hospitality and service was the best we've received in a really long time.
