The food was amazing. We got the lobster roll and fisherman's Cioppino. The service was awesome! They were always making sure we were doing okay and they were fast. The surroundings was Hawaii themed which was great cause we're from Hawaii.

We had just arrived to the Wharf after a long travel day and decided to stop by here for a spot of lunch! It's as you would I express for a tourist spot - a small little restaurant; no frills, fast service and fresh seafood!! Enjoyed a seat with a water view!Had some local IPAs, 1/2 dozen oysters which were good and perfectly shucked, some Oysters Rockefeller and a Poke Tower - as well as some very delicious garlic bread!I felt it was a little pricey for lunch for 3 - essentially 8 oysters, a Poke stack and two beers was almost $120; but it's expected in a high tourist area and the food was good!!

Came here on a holiday for lunch. Although they restaurant was busy, was able to get a table right away. The seafood here was fresh and tasted great!Clam Chowder - Creamy and rich with a good amount of clams.Old Bay Crab Cake - Generous lumps of crab meat. The salad on the side was tasty and refreshing. Although the sauces made the presentation very pretty, I felt that the sauce was a bit overpowering and not needed since the crab lumps were so fresh.Oysters Rockefeller - Creamy seafood goodness.New England Lobster Roll - Although the lobster roll looked tiny, they stuffed a good amount of lobster meat inside. Delicious including the salad on the side.Kocomo's Seafood Pasta - Great variety of quality seafood including bay scallops, bay shrimps, clams and mussels. The sauce was very cheesy and garlicky. Decadent!Overall, it was a very pleasant meal. Note that they don't have a bathroom but customers could use the bathroom at their sister restaurant(Old Fisherman's Grotto).

Services was excellent but the foods just not that great! We came here on Monday night which happened to be President day. It was busy which I expected the seafoods to be fresh but not in that case. We order the mini seafood platter for 2 people $180 which comes with a half lobster, half Dungeness crab, one claw king crab, 1 snow crab, 1/2 shrimps and mussels and couples clams. The display was beautiful with dry ice effects but that is all there is! The mussels and clams had sands in it, the snow crab was not fresh! It was horrible! Salty too! The platter also was overpriced for $180. Dungeness crab is in season and super cheap. The half lobster is only worth $10. That whole platter should cost only $90. The clam chowder comes with it super salty like the chef lost it tasted today. I meant salty to the case we thought the chef used the ocean water to boil the clams! Services on the other hand was excellent as the servers check up on us for refilling water and bring the foods out. The manager/owner seem to proud of the food served here as he declared that the chef here used to cooked for the President Obama in the White House. I guess Obama like super salty foods then! There are many other restaurants next to it with similar foods dishes so I am not sure if I will come back at this place unless the chef needs to cut back the salt!

Quick take: Dine like a tourist nightWe picked this restaurant because it was located on the wharf behind the Portola Hotel. Also, just to get the touristy experience just for fun.My favorite item on the menu was the jumbo prawn cocktail. Menu stated 4 prawns come with 1 order. Mine had 5 prawns. Yah!The garlic bread was delicious. The crab cake by itself was very good. I did not care for the tangy sweet sauce that came with the slaw. ***Half crab salad sandwich was a flop.... not even mediocre. I would suggest passing on the crab salad sandwich if you love crab salad sandwiches.***Fish tacos and clams were ordered by my colleagues so I can't describe the taste of those dishes. Our waitress was nice and didn't give us hell for splitting the check 3 ways. Thank you for the Monterey Fisherman's Wharf experience.

Honestly this is one of the best seafood restaurants I have been to. This restaurant beats some of the top rated seafood restaurants located in fisherman's wharf in the Bay Area. Let me tell you if you love clam chowder my my my the clam bake clam chowder is one of the best chowders and food I've ever eaten. The chowder is rich in flavor and they bake so much cheesy goodness on top. & the top of the bread bun is smothered in garlic butter to dip. Their shrimp cocktail was delicious. Oysters fresh. Their dungenness crab paired with garlic and butter was so fresh and scrumptious. I literally scraped every piece of crab meat out. I cannot wait to come back here. I recommend this place 10000 times over. Our servers were great. Attentive and friendly. Also restaurant is baby friendly. Our little one accidentally knocked down a glass and it broke but the servers were so kind.

It's true, just about every business on the wharf is packed and they are probably charging a price premium... But we had a great family friendly experience at this place where we managed to cram in our party of six. Strongly recommend the oysters and the Dungeness crab. Service was fast and friendly.

Spent the weekend and Monterey and one night was craving oysters. After a quick search on Google Maps I discovered this place and decided to give it a try. Needless to say I was not disappointed! The raw oysters, as well as the oysters rockefeller and garlic butter oysters were all very tasty. Also ended up getting the pan seared halibut. Nice presentation and also tasty. Portion size was just right and I really loved their salad! It had papaya and mangoes in it which was a pleasant surprise. Would definitely recommend and be back again when in the area!

After checking out the fish at the aquarium, we were hungry for some fish of our own.We stopped in at Grotto Fish Market and we're immediately seated by a very nice host/owner. We sat by a window that looked out on the harbor and watched a few seal lions play around. Our group ordered:- 12 fresh oysters -- tasty and fresh, definitely preferred the more fatty oysters. - small bowl of clam chowder -- thick and creamy.- 2 lobster rolls -- just okay, but the side salad it came with was really good.- garlic bread -- crispy but dry.Our food came out in a timely manner and we did devour everything since we didn't eat much earlier in the day, but it wasn't a very memorable meal.

I love seafood and I'm always looking for a great clam chowder. Recently I was in Monterrey and visited the Grotto Fish Market to sample their clam chowder and seafood. I was happy I did. The Grotto Fish Market serves a blend of island style and fresh seafood and features an oyster bar, seafood cocktails, smoked salmon, seafood sandwiches, and award-winning clam chowder. The Grotto Fish Market is an excellent restaurant for clam chowder, seafood, and crab cakes. The clam chowder is deliciously creamy and loaded with tasty clams. We ordered the mouthwatering Old Bay Crab Cake, and the crab meat was cooked perfectly. The crab cake and sauce tasted heavenly, and we enjoyed every savory bite. The Grotto Fish Market is on the Old Fisherman's Wharf in Monterrey and is blessed with wonderful ocean views and an opera of singing seals in the marina. The Grotto Fish Market deserves a 5-star rating for great clam chowder, fresh seafood, and service. I really enjoyed my seafood experience at the Grotto Fish Market and would recommend sampling some of their 5-star seafood.
