My son is in his first year at the DIL in Monterey. I sent a package and it wasn’t supposed to be delivered in time for his birthday. I made an order online and called after to make sure they could deliver to the gate and wait for him to come and get it. It worked great and helped me celebrate him from afar!

Layers made a fantastic cake for our wedding! It was a beautiful two-tier vintage style cake with lots of piping detail that looked exactly like the inspiration pictures we provided. They weren’t able to provide cherries, but said they could place them on the cake if we dropped some off a few days before the wedding. We went with a two-tier cake in the lemon curd flavor, and a half sheet cake in red velvet to feed a total of 85 wedding guests, and that seemed to be the perfect amount.

Their older employees are always so rude I went in today for some pastries and as I was ordering the most simple cookies the employee told me to slow down in a rude tone… could have said “ can you repeat that again” not “ slow down” … I worked in customer service she needs some more training makes me not wanna come in anymore!!

Have always thought of this as one of the best bakery’s in town- certainly for cakes. Bought pastries today and 3 of the 4 taste day old. Ok to sell day old just as long as they are marked and priced accordingly. These were front and center full priced.

I showed up to order a cake for a special birthday celebration. I was met by inattentive, uncooperative staff. I asked if I could sample a few different types of cake; I was told I could, but only if I purchased it. After gladly paying for the samples, I was told there were no servings available even though I could see them in the glass display case. I was begrudgingly reimbursed the charge. To make the experience more incredulous, I was told the cake I wanted (standard flavor, with design) would take four weeks to produce. I settled for a flavor profile I was unfamiliar with, and I overpaid for a cake that my guests did not enjoy. To all of you getting ready to treat yourself to a delicious pastry: Do your palate a favor and go elsewhere.

Since we do not live in town we went with Hilary’s recommendation and opted for the princess cake and death by chocolate. Both great choices. Would def recommend Layers. Working remotely with Hilary was straight forward. We appreciated the responsiveness.
