Excellent overall: food was terrific and reasonably priced for the high quality of our selections; the service was exceptional. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Very nice place with great food, interesting drinks and slow service. We were surprised though tha there were bread plates and a butter knife but, no bread served. And the one drink that should have had mint, they “ ran out”... I have a mint plant at home in a pot, never runs out and, well... Safeway has mint... otherwise great...

First time dining at Montrio and so glad to have found this restaurant. Staff was welcoming and the decor was modern but not overly formal. Our waiter, Bill, added some character and storytelling to our dining experience. We started with the pork belly and house salad. Both were delicious. I had the pan seared scallops and corn risotto with bacon — which was amazing! I think we found a new regular spot when we visit Monterey!

One of my favorite restaurants. I try to make it a point to come here whenever I visit Monterey.

Food was excellent. Everyone from the bartender to the waitress was friendly and personable.

We came to celebrate my mom's birthday, and from the moment we walked in, we felt special. The host—who I believe was also the manager—was incredibly welcoming and made sure we were seated at the table of our choice. Our server was friendly, attentive, and offered great wine recommendations. The food was excellent: the salmon was perfectly cooked, and the vegan mushroom “scallops” were absolutely delicious. This was the perfect spot for a special occasion, and we'll definitely be back!

We were seated promptly and Carlos was our waiter. Carlos provided a great service, he was friendly, helpful and made the whole meal very pleasant. We enjoyed the crab cakes, perfectly crispy outside and moist and full of chunks of real crabs. The tomato salad with burrata was good too. The pork chop was cooked well - medium - moist and had great seasoning. The least successful dish was the spot prawns, the prawns did not taste like they were fresh a bit soggy, you'd know fresh prawns when you bite into one - but the pasta and sauce that came with it had good seasoning. For dessert we got the bread pudding, I really enjoyed the passion fruit ice cream in contrast with the sweet sauce, if I were to tweak this dessert, I would switch out the condensed milk sauce with a lighter less sweet (dial down like 50% sweetness), then it would be a perfect dessert.

This is a mainstay favorite in Monterey. While the food was excellent, I was a little disappointed with menu options. No salmon. No artichoke. Both are part of Monterey heritage, and have been menu favorites in the past. The options were more limited than previously. The location and ambiance are good. Overall, we had a very good meal, but feel it could have been enhanced with a few more specials and deeper menu.

We had the cream corn brulee (which also comes with dressed Arugulageens and duck proscuito). A great tasting bite all together. The rest of the meal was hilarious chicken, which was also great tasting Service was very good.

have been eating at Montrio for decades. . .it's inventive, well executed and convivial. Expecially convient if one is attending an event downtown Monterey.

Absolutely fantastic experience! The food was amazing, the ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was truly top-notch. My husband especially loved their special Old Fashioned—it was a standout. We'll definitely be coming back!

The food was good but the service was spectacular by our server John. We had really seating so the noise level was.

Excellent food & beverages. The staff paired a wine that complemented the entree perfectly. The level of seasoning was ideal for my tastes. Not overpowering, but appropriately flavorful. The sides were fresh. Bright, sweet, smooth mashed yam & bok choy with a delicate, crip crunch. The dessert was also excellent. Rich & decadent, but also complex. I wish I had been able to sample more dishes as the créme brûlèe appetizer, the salads, and the steak tar tar all looked superb.
