Not so hidden, but tucked away sports bar, brew pub and family eatery. I guess it's part of the Portola Hotel. From the lobby, out the large doors to the north then left right away. Can't miss it if you've gotten this far.
Newly remodeled, so less charm, but makes up for it with shiny cleanliness and sparkle which is getting harder to find. Walls of TVs and there was live music when we were there. The space probably wasn't designed for live music, but I know it's a draw for others.
Front, wait and bar staff were friendly and did an excellent job serving our table. Attentive without hovering.
Basic sports bar menu done with a few extras and done better than most similar eateries. We were all satisfied with burgers, sandwiches, pizza and a couple salads which we shared. The crispy n fried items weren't too heavy and the food itself was quality cuts and selections. We're not drinkers but the others in the restaurant seemed pleased. I'm sure the other reviews will chime in.
We'll be back. If you're in the area for a few days I'd put it on your list when everyone in your group wants something different from each other.

Brought my family of 5 here for lunch today! Great place to watch sports and is family friendly. New remodel is first class and extremely clean. Waitress and manager were on top of any need we may have had. Every item of food we ordered was excellent and kids approved as well. Beer selection was good and bar was top notch. Dessert time came and we couldn’t make up our mind, manager comped us the skillet chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream. Tremendous! Don’t sleep on this place it is a hidden gem just steps away from the wharf. Leaps and bounds cleaner than any restaurant on the wharf so it’s wife approved! Will for sure return whenever I’m in the area. Thank you again Peter b’s! 👍👍

I came for the sweet potato tots, which were perfectly crispy and definitely the highlight of my visit. The live music also added a nice touch to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, my server misheard my order and brought out the wrong burger. On top of that, the toppings were served on the side, which I initially mistook for a small salad. Putting it together was awkward, and once assembled, the burger kept falling apart. The flavor was decent but nothing special. Overall, the tots and music stood out, but the burger experience was frustrating, and I’d only consider coming back just for the tots.

Located just outside of the Portola Hotel and Spa, and offered both indoor and outdoor dining. Loved the relaxed atmosphere and live music. Our waitress was incredibly nice, but maybe a little too comfortable. She was at our table for longer conversations than we had energy for and if we hadn’t been traveling all day, we might have felt differently about it. She even stayed to watch us try a dish then lingered for more conversation. She later placed a hand on my daughter’s back, which we recognize is a way of communication for some people, but it made my daughter uncomfortable.
The restaurant had an extensive list of beers so I ordered a flight of catrina, no maiden, sakura and spice lab 4. Of the 4, I liked Sakura the most and spice lab the least.
We ordered their Kobe sliders, clam chowder, California club and shrimp ceviche. The Kobe sliders weren’t spectacular, but they tasted good. Juicy and seasoned. The clam chowder looked and tasted like prepackaged soup. I guess I expected better given the area we were in. The California club was the winning dish. The bread was lightly toasted, but still soft and ingredients tasted fresh. The shrimp ceviche was”wow” and not in a good way. Overall, the dish needed seasoning and heat. The sliced radish tasted as though it was pickled in dish water. One bite and whole dish was ruined.
We paid $115.87 with tip which was incredibly reasonable, but don’t think we would make a return visit.

Nice hole in the wall type sports bar restaurant. The service was excellent, wait staff were attentive but not so overly attentive that it was a bother. One of the only places I can recall the wait staff actually waited until we didn’t have our mouth full of food to talk to us. Could have been the timing, but after 2 or 3 times checking I doubt it.
I got the sly signature burger. Food was excellent, seasoned properly and it came to me cooked like I asked- burger medium rare, egg over hard no runny yolk. Actually the only establishment to cook as asked on our trip to Monterey.

What a delightful hidden gem! So glad we happened upon this spot while walking around Monterey. The eggplant might be one of the best I've had, but more than that it was such a pleasure to sit by the bar and talk to the lovely servers while enjoying their unique brews. A quiet, lovely respite from the craziness of the rest of the city. Highly recommend!

Outstanding bartender! Maybe the best whiskey/bourbon selections on the Monterey Peninsula.

The food quality has improved since the remodel and menu revamp. The shrimp ceviche and crispy cheese curds were delicious, especially accompanied by a craft beer. The pepperoni pizza was average and a little too pricey in my opinion. The family missed the old look since it had more character compared to the new sterile look. The popcorn machine will be missed since it’s the first thing my little ones noticed was absent. Overall, better quality food, good service, but poorly executed decor.

Love their food and the service was outstanding. So I went back there last Friday after the reopening, their amber ale was chill and amazing. Then, I went back again on Monday and their beer was less chilled... that is why I take one star off for the review. Their nachos was great and totally loved their shrimp ceviche. Well, I am coming back this Friday and we will see the temp for my beer.

I dined here with my lady last night and the food was absolutely phenomenal. We were dined by Spencer and the rest of his team were very helpful as well. Spencer made sure to greet us, offer us drinks , and answer any questions we had. We had a couple of appetizers which were the eggplant and then the ahi ahi which was also mentioned by Spencer. We got Blood Orange drinks ( non-alcoholic) and they were really good and refreshing. For our entrees we got a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato bisque and prime rib Chili with Jalapeno cornbread. All the food was very delicious, the seasonings were something I've never experienced personally. The staff were all very polite and on it. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area. We will be back again in the near future. Thank you all 🙏.

After reading a recent article describing the renovation that Peter B's underwent, I decided to give this establishment another shot after a poor experience the year prior. My previous experience was marred by awful food, so I was hopeful that the new menu would fix, or at minimum improve, that issue. I was very wrong - I ordered the sweet heat pizza and have now had to stay near a restroom for the past 36 hours. Unfortunately, I did not take a photo of said item because I did not envision myself writing a review of this establishment. The pizza appeared to be on a pre baked crust with little to no sauce and placed under a broiler or salamander very briefly. The cheese wasn't even fully melted. Most toppings fell off if you were to pick up a slice. My partner ordered a burger which was better, but still nearing bad. Soggy bottom bun while the top half of the bun was crispy? The fries were decent. The beers I've had here are actually alright.
So after their $2M renovation (per magazine article) they have yet to figure out that food is important in a restaurant. It is extremely low quality and anyone visiting should highly reconsider. If you're going for a beer and a game the place is fine, otherwise eat elsewhere.
