We live locally and had family in town who wanted to eat at the beach. The Sandbar has one thing going for it - location and views of the ocean. Food was average at best. We had 2 groups for a total of 12 people and no one was impressed by their meal. Examples: crab dip appetizer tasted like bar food, lobster roll not very flavorful, even the snapper was sub—par. Very disappointing for what we paid. If you have a large group you are seated at round tables of 4 making interactions awkward. There are better restaurant choices with a view so we won't be back.

Great to be able to sit outside on the beach. Our waiter was the best! It was on the cool side and they made sure we had heaters.

Food was amazing and was very quick. Service was exceptional, never once had to ask for a refill, she would notice was getting low and would bring to the table. View was great. Was an excellent experience and would go again for sure and will on our next visit!

The Sandbar is an iconic location to dine on Anna Maria Island, and the perfect location to bring visiting guests to enjoy great food and a beautiful setting for sunset. That was our plan for dinner last night and as always, the Sandbar delivered. Service was great, the food was delicious, and the even without clouds, the sunset was beautiful.

Best margaritas ever. I've had margaritas all over, and these are some of the best. The bartender, Edgar, is very attentive and makes great drinks. Fresh salmon, excellent. Calamari app excellent. Scallops to die for! Monterey harbor views ( sometimes an otter) almost always during daylight a sailboat cruising by. Mostly locals. This tells you a lot.

We visited to carboload before the Monterey Bay Half and were treated to one of the most efficient dining experiences we've had in the States... it's rare to be in and out of a restaurant within 45 minutes outside of Japan! (this may sound like an exaggeration, but we still had 40 minutes left on our ParkMobile when we left)
We were seated immediately upon arrival without a reservation. When the hostess noticed a window table opened up just as we were getting seated, she graciously offered to move us and had a clean table turned around for us in under a minute!
Although our food arrived within three minutes of ordering.. which still left us in awe.. we didn't feel rushed at all throughout dinner. If anything, we wanted to clear our table when we noticed a line forming outside, especially since we weren't drinking and were purely there for nourishment. Speaking of, the cioppino ($39) was incredible! I've had my share of the dish and they don't usually come with scallops or crab.. Sandbar spoiled me with both that were exceptionally fresh! and the hubby's fish & chips ($21) were bomb as well as the sand dabs appetizer ($15).
What stood out most was the service, starting with the hostess going above and beyond our expectations! When we were ready to settle our bill, we asked the busser for our check, and he immediately retrieved it. After we put our card down and our main server was busy with another group, the hostess processed our payment. Watching the entire staff work together so seamlessly was truly refreshing.
and unfortunately didn't witness any otters romping.. maybe next time!
