If I ever come back to Monterey, I will definitely re-order the salmon with the lemon butter sauce. Most excellent. That view just added to the experience.

I went with my friends for lunch and we had a great time! The staff was very friendly and nice, and the food was delicious. And the view out on the wharf was stunning as well. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for Sushi or any other Japanese Food!

If I could give a zero star I would. This place was absolutely disgusting on the quality of food. This is not a Japanese restaurant, this is a Korean restaurant with things made to seem Japanese. The seafood was rubbery, all the sushi options outside of the nigiri was not well palated. I did not finish my meal, I actually left after 1 bite of each item I ordered as it was so bad I couldn’t even stomach it.

This is one of the best Asian Sushi and Steakhouses I’ve been to. First of all, the views of the Monterey Harbor Boat Yard is so spectacular, the food was outstanding, as well as the atmosphere. Their menu had a variety of sushi, Asian drinks, and more!!! Definitely, I will come back to experience the hibachi. Thank you to the wonderful staff!!!

We were sat at the sushi bar for dinner and told the regular server would take our order. It did not seem busy and we were ignored for 20 minutes. When we were able to order, I ordered the Da Kine Steak, my guest had the sushi sashimi combination but substituted the tuna roll for a sunset roll, which they said was okay. Her sushi was served within 5 minutes. Over 30 minutes after she was finished eating my steak arrived. I watched the server brining out several plates to another group at the bar and one of their plates was on top of mine.

The potatoes were very hot and crispy, but the steak and vegetables must have been cooked before the potatoes were remembered, as they were cold. The steak was full if connective tissue and gristle.

When I received the bill, they charged for the sushi sashimi combination, and also charged full price for the sunset roll without adjustment for the deleted tuna roll; a little disclosure would have been tasteful.

2 stars for the food because my guest liked the sushi, my meal was mostly inedible.

3 stars for the atmosphere, as that seemed nicer than the food, but we didn't see much of the restaurant or view.

My party of 4 was seated right away and our drinks came soon after. The food was very delicious and came out really fast. Sushi was great and I highly recommend.

I recently visited Sapporo Sushi & Steakhouse in Monterey and had the steak with shrimp. The meal was delicious, and the steak and shrimp were cooked perfectly. I also loved the entertaining cooking show the chefs put on. I definitely recommend dining here

I ordered nigiri. It was fine, not great but not bad. Service was attentive and I sat outside for a casual experience. The white wine was good.

The chef was very entertaining while cooking in front of our group. Reserved your table to avoid waiting. Nice oceanview outside the window.

Service was great—the staff was attentive, responsive, and the hibachi show was awesome as always! Our family had a fun evening, and the food itself was very good.

That said, there were a couple of things that left us scratching our heads. Apparently, there’s an “owner policy” that for every 2 adults at the hibachi table, at least 1 must order a hibachi dinner—even if others are ordering different menu items, oh, and kids don’t count. In our case, we were a family of 9, and 4 people ordered hibachi, but not two adults specifically. Because of that, they required us to add another hibachi meal on top of the 7 sushi rolls we already ordered. Strange policy that doesn’t really make sense from a customer standpoint.

On top of that, while they did split the bill between our two families, they still added the automatic 18% gratuity (since we had 5 or more in the party).

Overall, the food and service were very good, but because of the unusual policies, we likely won’t make this a regular destination in the future.

Very average sushi place. The red snapper and halibut didn't have any flavor. The sea clam was very very firm. The flying fish egg and spicy yellowtail were the best. Average prices with a nice view. Had to pay for parking. Service was slow. I've had much much better sushi elsewhere. Nothing special.
