My wife and I spent our anniversary here and the appetizers & drinks were the best by far!

Came in to try the lobster roll, unfortunately tasted more of the carrot salad than lobster meat. $45 (CA) vs $32 (MA), just because in California everything is more expensive; two pictures from different geographical locations.
Just sharing my experience: eat lobster roll when on East coast.

Im guessing the ownership of this place has changed. The menu has changed, the food isn't nearly as good, the music is all over the place and the atmosphere is different in a bad way!
I used to come here all the time as a kid, and when I lived her just a few years ago when I was in college. I don't think this place is on mine or my family's radar anymore unfortunately.

Difficult to br served but more likely for how busy they are because only place in town . I spent 30 min every time I needed a drink .. love music was amazing and from my understanding a good
experience

Sly’s isn’t a bad place. The ambience is nice and the staff are friendly, though sometimes hard to find. The food is decent, but overpriced, even if it is on the Row. The chowder is good but the bread is so-so. The fish n chips desperately needed to be drained - the fish was cooked well and the batter is good but the whole thing went soggy from the oil coming off it. The biggest issue - a 9 dollar Guinness poured out of a can into a plastic glass. And it was room temp. :(

The food was really good (clam chowder and lobster roll). My less than 5 stars comes from the atmosphere and cleanliness. I was expecting a slightly nicer place given the location, photos online and prices but this really gave me sports bar vibes. Our table was sticky and the empty tables around us were still dirty from previous patrons. It is possible they were understaffed because I only saw one server while we were there. He was polite and the food came out quickly.

Went here for lunch, it was really good but it was alleging hot inside the restaurant. We were sweating just sitting at the table, which made the meal less enjoyable.
I would 100% go back after they fix the air conditioning.

This experience was absolutely terrible food took forever. Got our food before our drinks. My husband canceled the drinks. Waiter brought out our drinks anyways said it was on him. Food was terrible very greasy. He brought out our bill and they only took one drink off. My husband spoke with the manager, who is also the bartender. He claimed that they ran out of ice. He ended up taking both drinks off. Worst food and service i have ever experienced.

Walked in here after traveling down to check out Cannery Row with my girlfriend . While exploring this place caught our eye as looking like a good place to try for lunch. Upon walking in we were greeted promptly and sat down , with the restaurant being almost empty except for one other table .
We soon found out why. Though the wait staff was courteous , the food itself was beyond bland . We ordered calamari for an appetizer which came out really rubbery and served with some cocktail sauce . My girlfriend ordered the fish and chips which was surprisingly served only with cocktail sauce again (no tartar sauce???) and with the breading of the fish being particularly thin and falling off . I ordered the fish tacos with chips and salsa . Guess what sauce was served for the chips??? not even actual salsa but again the same cocktail sauce that each and every other dish had (which wasn’t even good). Overall , the food was a big let down and everything was just bland. Would recommend literally any other restaurant on the same road .

The best part about my experience at Sly McFlys was the napkins. They are of impeccable quality. I paid $9 for a Modelo that took 20 min to get, and $10 for fried pickle chips that were burnt all the way to hell. Bar man was good but he had a lot on his plate. I think he is blameless in this shitty review. The view of the beach isn’t great either.

I’ve been frequenting bars and restaurants at least once per week for the past 15 or so years and I have NEVER walked out completely pissed and embarrassed.
The service is horrific! When two other times prior and it was OK, slow and kinda rude but OK enough to bring my family the third time for a quick drink in June.
Sitting at the bar, bartender said “what do you want” not hello or anything friendly. Ask for a cocktail and before finishing our order he completely walked away.
After coming back, I asked for a locals discount, the bartender said they don’t have one. After pushing this and telling him they DO have a locals discount, he started to argue with me in front of one of his colleagues trying to prove me wrong.
The fellow employee backed me up mentioning that there is indeed a local’s discount. He asked for my drivers license, I told him that I had a lease on a brand new condo because I just moved, and he said that was not good enough and continue to argue with me telling me that no other bar or restaurant in the area offers discounts to locals (which is a total lie) then asked me to prove it and give names. Which again is wrong and completely unnecessary for putting me on the spot in front of my family. Before taking our orders again, he walked off a second time.
We got up and left. I will never be going back, I will never recommend this restaurant ever again. The owners need to do a better job of hiring people with customer service skills.
Seeing other reviews with similar bad experiences with customer service it’s surprising ownership doesn’t completely re staff everyone.
