Worse service ever. Staff not welcoming at all and could not be bothered serving us, we already know why. Overpriced basic food. And good luck trying to get connection to the internet. Never again.

Great breakfast restaurant in Monterey California. Solid menu, great service and excellent food. No wait on a Tuesday morning, got a table right away. Moderately priced, worth a visit.

Great staff, quiet small restaurant away from the Cannery Row Chaos.

Had a good French Toast there. But they are too pricey for that ambience. This is a normal diner, they are priced like an organic hipster cafe. Nevertheless, food was good.

Very good breakfast fare and super friendly and efficient staff! A little pricey, but you get generous portions of tasty food. I haven't gotten here to try their lunches yet, but they are very tempting. Very choice alternative to First Awakenings on busy days/weekends.

Breakfast equivalent of hot dog water. Frozen biscuit, dry omelette, horrible coffee and tea. Literally nothing was good. Please go elsewhere, a 5 dollar cafeteria diner breakfast for 20 bucks is not worth your time.

The quality of the food was good. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals but the price was way too expensive. I wouldn't go back for the price. Service was just okay

Small café, friendly service. Menu has several breakfast and lunch options.
Ordered the Rueben and fries. Fries were great, meat on rueben was more of a pressed meat that tasted like ham, not the best rueben I've ever had, bread was delicious.

Hidden gem for those that enjoy breakfast. We came here twice during our 3 day stay and found the quality of food and service equally excellent on both days. I opted for their chilaquiles special and breakfast burrito. Originally from Southern California, but claiming Virginia as home for the last 9 years, it was nice to have some good California Mexican food! The rest of my family had traditional pancakes and waffles which they enjoyed. Their service in word could be described as “hustle.” They are always on the move to get you seated and serve your food which I appreciate. We enjoyed the simplicity of what felt like a family owned restaurant in a great location within walking distance of the beach and Cannery Row.

My burrito was so amazing. I don't really care about pricing but everything in the picture was about $60.00. the food was cooked accurately and my mimosa was on point . I would highly recommend this place and try everything in their menu to see if all tastes just as good as what I got.

A Hidden Gem for Breakfast Lovers!
Sunrise Cafe in Monterey is a cozy, welcoming spot that delivers a top-notch breakfast experience. Tucked away on Lighthouse Ave, it’s the kind of place locals love and visitors are thrilled to discover. The menu blends classic American comfort food with flavorful Mexican-inspired options—don’t miss the breakfast burrito with guac and pico de gallo, or the Sunrise Plate for a hearty start to your day.
The staff is friendly and efficient, even when the place is buzzing. Indoor and outdoor seating gives you flexibility, and the relaxed vibe makes it perfect for a slow morning. The Belgian waffle with berries is a sweet standout, and the coffee is always hot and fresh.
Parking is easy with free 90-minute street spots nearby. Whether you're fueling up before exploring Cannery Row or just craving a great breakfast, Sunrise Cafe is a must-visit in Monterey

All around disappointing. Small portion sizes especially for the price. $25 for crab Benedict that I was very excited for, to have the most hard boiled egg I’ve ever been served on a bene. Barely any crab and I suspect it came out of a can. Very small portion of hashbrowns. We also got the chilaquiles which were another puny serving for the price point. Needed more sauce. Do not recommend.
