The food is excellent, but the drink selection and quality could use some improvement.

All around great place to eat for good fresh sushi. The sushi was very good and very reasonably priced. The service was very good as well, someone was checking on us every few minutes for picking up dirty plates, trash, etc. pretty cool inside, not too loud with the sushi bar in the back. We had a little mix up with my food but they took care of it no problem. My only semi complaint is they mix a lot of types of fish on the specialty rolls so if you have any allergy concerns just be careful and substitute the right stuff if possible. Highly recommend.

Good food. I got the chicken katsu and dragon roll. The katsu was crispy and fresh out the fryer when I got it. Small restaurant but good atmosphere.

We were seated right away on a Tuesday evening. It was pretty busy and average noise level. The waitress was nice and gave us great recommendations. We got the Phoenix on fire and the whole hearted roll and 2 order of seared salmon roll with light mayo. The drinks were also good. We will definitely come back.

This place has great food and service. I make it a point to come here every time I am in Monterey.

Side note, they had a delay on one order out of our table of 8. They got our friend the order and even covered the cost. We thought that was sufficient, however they did not, they also brought the entire table free dessert after this! Went above and beyond.

Visiting Monterey for Labor Day weekend so you know everything is crazy busy. We were starving after a day at the aquarium and we walked in and got seated at the sushi bar immediately! The wait for a table would have been 30 minutes which wasn't bad. The staff were all so helpful and would check on us regularly. They made great recommendations, sushi was fresh and just delicious!! Would definitely recommend!!

Unfortunately, very very sad everything was going perfectly. Until the server told me I was Needy... just because I ask for sparkling water and extra napkins.

We were at the tiniest room to keep rhe party party, we were 12. Took long enough to get our drinks, then when. We ask for extra utensils, etc. He got Josh, or John cant remember hes name. Told me calm down, is not your bday.

Excuse me. Im paying for food, and service do your JOB. And keep you words while you working.

He says, ohhh!! Are you From Carmel-by-the-sea???? He'll naahhh you needy.

Ill never put a foot here, definitely not rhe service i want. Im not your friend, im a client, I need respect. Mr.

Staff are nice folks. Food is good and service is AOK. Atmosphere is not the best. Especially the large room to the back. Terribly noisy and hard to hear. It could use some sound deadening work for sure.

Got take out on a Friday night. Called ahead to order and expected a wait. Showed up 50 minutes after we called, on the phone they had said it would be 45 minutes. We ended up waiting another 30 minutes, for a total of 1 hr 20 and I had to remind the server we were waiting. And the item we’d been waiting on, the gyoza, were cold when we got them.
Ordered a chirashi and the sake donburi bowl and the whole hearted roll. They forgot the soups included w the don buri bowls. Fish quality was mediocre and everything else tasted like it had been sitting for a while. Overall, can’t understand why this place is rated so highly other than, it’s on a popular street and the prices are decent. If you just need a quick fix, fine. Otherwise, there are probably better options for better fish.

Great little place I found when craving sushi after going to the aquarium. Friendly staff and service. Service could be more attentive but they were busy the night I was there. Food was delicious and filling.
