Omelettes were not brought the way we ordered them. Food was cold. Slow service. Food took a long time to get and then the orders were wrong. I would not waste my money here again. It's unfortunate this happens at such a nice hotel. Gone to s****

We came to Monterey looking for a nice champagne brunch and came across this place. What made this place so wonderful was the fabulous customer service we received. Arnel our waiter was A++! Also Ivan and Linda dynamic duo on making our yummy omelettes and entertaining the customers while we waited in line. I would just like to thank them for their spectacular customer service it made my day! Anyone that comes here ask for Arnel or sit in his section he is so awesome! Oh ya and the food was amazing also.

This place is amazing!! It would be nothing without Miguel and Jamie !! They made this experience so enjoyable and had the BEST customer service I've had in awhile! I am overly joyed about finding a place like this I looked all over google .. we ended up here .. a little skeptical. Was amazing!! The food was good. But the customer service is even better!!! I highly recommend.

Honestly, go for the bottomless mimosas. My friend and I came here and took full advantage of this restaurant's food and drink. It's a very unique atmosphere, sort of formal but weird because there is a lot of light flooding through. There are a lot of food options, but definitely save room for the omelets!!

We were staying at the Portola Hotel and spa and had breakfast on Saturday morning in the clubroom at their buffet. The omelettes were awesome.

This is a review of only the 2019 Christmas Buffet Dinner held in The Club Room at the Portola Hotel in Monterey, CA on December 25, 2019. The cost was $84.95 per person, and for that amount of money, standards and expectations should rightfully be high. First off, for some very odd reason, only the seating and desserts was in the actual Club Room. For the rest of the food, you had to walk down a hallway and go into what looked like a function room and then you walked back to the actual Club Room. They should have set up all the food stations, not just the dessert station, inside the actual Club Room so it would be more convenient for dining guests. And it's late December in Monterey, so it was cold outside, so why they did not have any kind of hot soup on the buffet did not make much sense. As to the food itself, there were many flaws. First, the prime rib was never properly put out on display on the carving station. In fact, it was not carved to order (it should have been though). If you wanted prime rib, they would take a pre-sliced cut out of a warming drawer and put it on your plate. Since the prime rib had already been sliced and sitting in a warming drawer for who knows how long, it was all overcooked. Terrible presentation. Terrible effort. Next was the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were all sitting in a very large presentation platter with cocktail sauce and sliced lemons on the side. The problem was there was no crushed ice in the presentation platter for the shrimp to sit on so they would stay cold, so instead the shrimp disgustingly sat on a room temperature platter and disgustingly became room temperature. Terrible. No one wants your room temperature shrimp folks. Properly served shrimp should have been served cold and sitting on ice. There is no doubt somewhere in the Portola Hotel they must have an ice machine. Why on earth did anyone there not use it for presenting the shrimp? Lastly the dessert station, which was the worst of all of it. The plates for the dessert station were so incredibly tiny you could hardly fit more than one item on a dessert plate before something would fall off. It was almost as if they used tiny, single piece bread plates instead of appropriate sized plates for the dessert station. This is a buffet and people want to put more than one dessert on a plate. Your tiny plates did not let them do that. Also, every individual pie needs to have its own individual serving utensil. They did not. There were far less serving utensils than number of pies. It is not appropriate for dining guests to have to share different serving utensils and cross contaminate the various types of pies while doing so. Very poor planning. For $84.95, this 2019 Christmas buffet was an absolute fail.
