Unfortunately due to construction going on in the restaurant my visual view of the ocean was blocked my scaffolding around all windows in the restaurant . I found this extremely disappointing and very upsetting.

Decided to try this restaurant out for my staycation. Not impressed. The ambience was great, the fireplace added a nice touch, but it stops there. The Tuna tacos were "ok" and the calamari was bland. The sauce given with the calamari didn't add any flavor either. Service was fine at the bar as we waited for a table. The calamari is by far the worst I've had in my entire life. I do not recommend anyone try it.

7PM, I went to the Tides Bar to have ME time. I looked at the menu and an Old Fashioned Smoked cocktail seemed to be attractive. Bartender (A) cleaned the smoked kit and it can't be used- bartender (B) responded. I ordered Northern Lights cocktail and they didn't have the ingredients- bartender (A) said. My next question, what's available from the menu? Bartender (B) said "we do have all the ingredients". The food: An awful calamari dish. The Monterey Bay Calamari were cold and I found a half piece of lemon already squeezed under a bunch of cold calamari plus, a piece of a battered fish??? I ordered Calamari. Northern Lights was not well-shaken. It's a pity I didn't take pics. My next question, what's going on with the bar and the kitchen at the Tides??? An awful experience.

The service and the views were great, however the food was over priced and was not good! You're better off going to Applebee's. It sucks because we planned my son's birthday around this place and everyone seemed disappointed by their food.

The Asada Tacos were pretty good. It was 3 for $20. I ordered for dine-in. I found a seat near the window overlooking the ocean views because the bar is a small section and was full.

For our 43rd anniversary, we're bike riding the coastal trail, and decided to pedal on up the hill for a great breakfast! The hospitality of the host and server, fabulous Eggs Benedict, super bacon loaded omelet, and drum roll, please... fabulous view of the bay, all adds up to a rare treat at a bargain price and the perfect start to a wonderful day! Eat well. Be happy!

We ended up eating here since we stayed at Monterey Tides Hotel and were too tired to drive elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and don't make the same mistake we did. I will say that the service was great and thr views are amazing. The food was overpriced and not good. The burger had no flavor. The chicken was mostly bones and super dry. Definetly will not be back.
