This place is AWESOME! I had the Spicy Beef Plate with Remain Salad and Cold Pasta and girlfriend had the Spicy Salmon Plate with the same sides. The portions are big and the taste is out of this world. We live in Van Nuys and it's worth the trip just for their food and I should mention the staff is awesome and the place is really clean and comfortable. Treat yourself to a great meal and go there. You deserve it.
The food was great but I didn't like the fact that upon ordering, we were immediately told that we could not eat inside. It would be take out only or we could not order! We arrived 20 minutes before closing so I am very confused why we were told this. To have the chairs up and you are not closed yet, is very disrespectful to your patrons. I arrived at Kiku Japanese Restaurant at 3:00 PM today and was instantly greeted by staff, who wasted no time getting my order started. The cashier recommended the chicken teriyaki bowl, which came out piping hot. Teriyaki sauce wasn’t too sweet and complimented the chicken perfectly!! The cabbage salad dressing was especially yummy.
