Great experience! Definitely worth it) we saw sea otters, sea lions, birds and fish☺️ recommend!!!
The best sea view boat service in Morrow Bay. We payed $20:per person and saw otters, sea lions and seals. Also, there was the underwater window where we saw fish. Pet friendly. Definitely recommend!
Very old restaurant that needs updating. We did get a lovely table that overlooked Morro Rock which was nice. Prices are very high for this restaurant. I got the small pizza which was good but nothing special. My friend got the risotto that tasted like it was made from broth with no added cream or cheese. It had no flavor. Very disappointing. We did enjoy the caprese salad. It was very small and was 16/17 dollars I believe. Very expensive for the portion. But it was by far the best thing we tasted. We we’re celebrating our 60th birthdays and let the restaurant know that. We were wished happy birthday’s and although we did not want a dessert, we were not offered one as most restaurants do for special occasions. Again another disappointment. We each had a drink and walked out of there with tip around $130 bucks. Definitely not worth what we paid.
We have visited this restaurant multiple times before the pandemic but this was our first time back since. We went with another couple who had also been there before. We had reservations and were shown to a nice table. The ambiance is very nice for sure. We were shocked at the prices on the menu! Everything was a La carte and main entrees were $45 and up. I ordered sea scallops and there were 3 scallops for $50! Nothing else comes with it, no vegetable, rice, potato…nothing. And they were just “ok” nothing special, the sauce was overpowering. 2 people at our table had the halibut and they felt it was over cooked ($45 each for a small piece). We had 4 entrees total, 4 drinks (2 glasses wine, 1 margarita that my husband said was lousy and it was $17), 3 deserts, and an order of bread …bread is extra. Our bill for 4 people was $425! We enjoy good food and are willing to pay for it but this wasn’t that great for this price.
We visited Widows on the Water for dinner earlier this week. We had a great evening, the view, the service and our meals were excellent. Our server, Paxton was friendly and attentive, we were not in a hurry so we enjoyed our cocktails and the view, Paxton kept an eye on us for any needs that we had. I had halibut, one of my favorites, and it was the best I’ve had in a long time. Another one of us enjoyed Sand Dabs, very good and nice presentation. We had a very good experience and we won’t wait so long to return.
Great view of the Rock. Stopped in from our walk from our bed and breakfast. Really good service and food. Loved the view for sure. The clam chowder is the best. So not traditional. Perfectly homemade
ambiance, ocean view some of the best food we have ever eaten - and we are foodies! professional staff- friendly we celebrated a birthday - a window table for the sunset- my husband had the just out of the sea oysters , fresh HALIBUT( he said the best he has ever had!) i had the Caesar salad and the succulent pork chop with Kale do save room for desert- we had fresh sorbet and an amazing butterscotch creme brulee topped with fresh berries this restaurant is right on the main road in Morro Bay CA- walking along the street is highly recommended we were there o a Tues nite- we heard they have music on the weekend
This restaurant is well located with a nice view. Pleasant space and decoration but it needs to be updated. Service was fine but it could be better, waiters could offer more attention to each table. Fine wine list but the waiter did not know our selection so he got trouble finding it probably because the sommelier was absent. Salad lettuce was very old and it was prepared with a lot of dressing killing the vegetables. We were afraid of the main course but surprisingly came delicious. Scallops dish was brilliant. It was obvious the chef prepared the main dish and some assistant the salad so the kitchen needs to improve attention to details. This restaurant is worthy, hopefully the owners will invest in improvements in all senses. It could be placed as the finest restaurant in the area very easily if they focus on it.
We visited the night after Thanksgiving. Our group of five was given a nice table overlooking the water. The scallops, rib eye (x2) and halibut received high marks. The pork chop was good but a little on the salty side. The deserts were tasty. The restaurant is a bit on the pricey side but still good value. Our only disappointment was the dining room where we were emptied while we were dining - not the restaurant’s fault but it did effect the overall ambiance.
The service was absolutely top notch. We were early so we sat at the bar the bar tender was very good, her attention to detail was spot on. Very friendly. The GM came to seat us and when we weren’t quite ready he took the menus to the table and came back to and helped carry our bottle of wine and anything else to our table. The food was outstanding, my wife ordered the giant meatball and a capers salad, both on the starter menu. The meat ball was very good texture not mushy and flavor was the best, the sauce was thick and rich. A meal itself. I had the clam chowder, different than you get anywhere on the central coast. Absolutely the best I have tasted. Then the sand dabs. The fish was soft and succulent very fresh. It was served on greens and mashed potatoes excellent presentation. The bure blanc sauce was beyond good. A very subtle but the best finish of flavor to the plate. I did however discover that I would prefer my sand dabs sautéed, just my preference.

We went here for the view of the Rock which is incredible. The best way to describe the food is hit or miss and pricey. Entries $39 to $60. My wife's order halibut (over cooked) and I got the pork chop ( over salted) but tasty. A big hit was the wine flights which was excellent in both pinots and whites. The staff was very friendly. Next trip would be wine flights and appetizers.
Staff were great and they happily accommodated us on the patio although no other diners were eating outside. Food was a little uneven. The pork chop and cioppino were excellent, but the halibut was overcooked.
By far the most upscale and gourmet restaurant we ate at in Morro Bay. Food was as good as high-end places in the Bay Area, where we live. Entrees ranged from around $30 to $50. Good cocktails, good wine selection with an option for tasting-flight of three whites, pinots, or reds for $19. Beautiful water views, elegant setting. We also had a super-friendly (in a good, authentic way) waiter. When you want something more than chowder bowls and fish tacos, this is the place.
The food and service were very good. The kitchen closed down promptly at 8 PM, however, which put a serious damper on our take-out food plans. Our server, however, could not have been nicer or more gracious.
