i want to like this place but they make it hard. on weekends they’re 10/10. friendly bartenders food is good. during the week…1/10. Whoever works the day shift, is so rude. can’t be bothered to serve or interact. never smiles. acts like you being there is a major incovience. i asked if we could keep a tab open she didn’t answer but charged me closed it out and said “no we’re changing shifts”… like okay i get it but so unwelcoming. mind you this was after i was standing there a good 3 minutes with no one else there. the friendly kitchen worker grabbed her for us but not a sorry or a smile but asked what we wanted. blows my mind. the food isn’t worth the poor service. if you’re every wondering why your day shift may not be performing as well check out the staff could be your issue.
Stopped by The Outpost by Valley Farm in Mt. Laguna after wrapping up a long week of work and it basically turned into an unofficial company party for Legacy Home Energy. If you’re working or living in East County San Diego and need a solid spot to unwind, this place is hard to beat.
Great atmosphere, rustic mountain vibes, friendly staff, strong drinks, and plenty of TVs for football. Perfect spot to decompress after a full day of HVAC installs, service calls, or projects up here in Mt. Laguna and the surrounding areas. The bar setup is awesome, the selection is solid, and the whole place feels welcoming whether you’re a local, contractor, or just passing through.
We do a lot of work throughout East County San Diego, and spots like this are exactly why we love serving communities like Mt. Laguna. Highly recommend The Outpost by Valley Farm if you’re looking for a laid-back mountain bar with good energy, good people, and a great setting.
We’ll definitely be back.
Such a cozy place for drinks and food. Good service and there's always interesting people with interesting stories.
Drove up to the restaurant for lunch. I was looking forward to a Bailey’s and coffee since it was cold outside. When I asked the waitress she said I don’t have coffee made right now. No offer to make any.
My husband and I both ordered the pulled pork sandwich. When it came out, we each only got half a sandwich. I asked our waitress and she said, oh I thought you were sharing. Not sure what gave her that idea. She seemed a little overwhelmed since she was bartending and serving food. Also it was very cold inside the restaurant. I thought they would have a fire going. Overall was very disappointed. Won’t be going back!!
Walked from Canada to Mexico and stopped here in the freezing rain. Some of the best food over the last 2,500 miles, and I've eaten A LOT in resorty type towns. The highlight, to my surprise, was the carne asada fries.
after having the brisket sandwich, i’m not the same person as i was when i woke up that morning. 🤤
Food was good, nice flavor and hot. Had Smoked Pork Sammich and the Baha Salad with a couple of drafts. Location is a factor, this is OUT OF TOWN by a ways. So eating out in a National Park is what it is.
Service at the bar, great. Service in the dining room does not exist (order at the counter, pickup your own food in the kitchen, asked to bus our own dishes, and still asked for a tip 😡).
Wouldn't go back.
We went for happy hour and dinner. They also have rooms for rent. The ombiance is terrific, as was the BBQ pulled pork. They have a good selection of beer on draft, whiskey, wine, and a fireplace that would be very nice in winter. An excellent place for lunch or dinner in Laguna, CA.
I had the small bbq platter, so much amazing meat. Enough go for left overs 2mrw, wife the nachos with pulled pork. Good beer selection and Also Dog Friendly to the max, gave our dog and treat while there. They were super friendly. A hidden gem in the mtns away from it all.
Awesome food, great staff, perfect decor. The staff are attentive and courteous. The entertainment adds so much to the great experience.

It is beautiful and quiet up there and rhe scenic Sunrise Highway is fun to drive on. The food is good and decent-priced and the employees were friendly.
This spot really impressed us with its great service and cozy atmosphere. The decor adds a lot of charm, and the food was unexpectedly fantastic for a place tucked away like this. They’ve got a solid beer selection too, which was a nice bonus. Portions were big and satisfying. Prices weren’t the cheapest, but definitely more reasonable than what you’d pay in a big city.
Holy hell, what a unique an amazing place! We loved the bartenders Arianne, Hannah and Nikki! Also our server Ellen was the bomb! Cant recommend more than this amazing experience in the mountains!
I ordered the brisket sandwich, and it was mostly fat and gristle. Its too bad because their butcher shop is top-notch. I had higher expectations for the restaurant with their name on it.
Well worth the drive up to the mountains.
