I was super excited to try out this bakery as I’ve been wanting to find a good Asian bakery in South Bay for some time now. Walking in to the shop, you could feel that this place has been running for some time and has been a cherished family business. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was not prepared to pay $6+ for a baked bbq pork bun that didn’t quite have as much flavor as I was hoping. The bun was slightly larger than a normal sized one but lacked a good filling...
CASH ONLY SERVICE! Classic Hong Kong bakery with all of the classic baked goods made by the owner who has been here for MANY years. The lemon cake is moist and tasty! Almond cookies have that familiar flavor and crunch. The red bean sesame balls are my favorite!
I frequently visit Hong Kong Bakery and highly recommend the egg tarts, baked or steamed pork buns, steamed custard buns, sesame balls, and mango mochi. The food is consistently good, and all of the treats are larger than you would expect (a baked pork bun & egg tart is enough for me for lunch). The owner is also very sweet and friendly! It is cash only and around $4-6 per item, which seems reasonable for the portion size, quality, and location in downtown Mountain View.
