Very charming French bistro! Service is one of the best in the Mountain View area. I recommend getting their French onion soup, duck liver and pork chop.

You must go to this place as soon as possible, because the chef may retire. This is amazing food. I like the duck, lamb, muscles, escargot, and onion soup most.

Great French restaurant with good French dishes for quite reasonable prices, and non pretentious friendly owners and staff.Since chez tj has gone way down, le bistro is the French restaurant I'll recommend in mtv, and its also way cheaper. Win-Win.

I just got walked by on a Monday night and got hit in the face with a STRONG odor of incense and piss, immediately followed by the experience of nearly tripping over a man sleeping in the doorway, completely set up with his own bed and shrine. Far be it from me to judge someone for being unhoused, but I will object to them setting up a pseudo home in the doorway of a business, and proceeding to mark their territory profusely when there are in fact restrooms available, let alone more discreet locations. Disappointed to learn that the nearest establishment is only open for 4 hours, 5 days a week… that explains it. In any case, the smell must linger. If you ever wondered where it was from, now you know. The entrance to le petit bistro. In it’s off hours, it transforms into le petit bidet.

1. Food: The lamb was good, but the duck liver was of low quality and lacked flavor.2. Service: I inquired with the server about whether the duck liver originated from Eastern Europe or France; she didn't know. However, she was consistently attentive with refilling the water.3. Unusuall charges: I was surprised to see a mandatory 22% tip added to our bill. I've never encountered such a high mandatory tip, even at Michelin-starred restaurants, and this establishment is not on par with them. The staff was efficient, but they weren't particularly friendly and seemed to lack in-depth knowledge about their menu.Unfortunately, due primarily to reason 3, we won't be returning.

What a disappointment! I was looking forward to getting some French food, but we were only able to taste the coldness and rudeness from our waiter. First of all he was unfriendly from the minute we stepped in the restaurant. When I asked if they had a kids menu, he replied: "Of course not!". What does it mean??? A bistro is supposed to be a casual restaurant not a Michelin star restaurant. Are they too high-end to serve families with kids? Then we tried to find a dish for everyone, but when we ordered, only one item out of around 5 entrees was available. On a Saturday night at 7 pm you would expect they have all the ingredients needed to fulfill their small menu. So we decided to leave and take our business elsewhere where we would feel more welcomed.Well, I will have to make my family some mussels and Coq au vin very soon as we were not able to get our French Cuisine fix.I certainly do not recommend this restaurant! They need to get friendlier staff and be more prepared for a weekend night.Kid-friendliness: NOT kid-friendly at all!

Everything about the experience was just okay. Service was slow and they spilled water/wine on our table a couple times while pouring. The food didn't have much flavor to it and several things weren't cooked properly (for example, the carrots were undercooked). The duck dish had the most flavor but many of the other dishes were bland.

Three entrees, three appetizers, one dessert. Every single bite of every single item was superb. Excellent food, excellent service. Authentic but not pretentious. Please don't tell anybody else, we keep it or little secret. "I like it, I love it, I want some more of it. " ?Vegetarian options: ?
