Worst Mediterranean food in bay area. Almost everything is tasteless and small portion.

It was a really bad experience. Food is honestly trash, like made with contempt. Service full of contempt……this chain used to be a really safe option for a good and healthy meal. It seems they are really trying to make money out of the littlest things and exclude what would normally come with the food and drink items. I can’t support this business anymore, it seems they have lost their integrity.

The food is worst, no taste at all.
I think this place is only running because it’s on the Castro Street, I don’t think they’ll have any repeat customers

They halved the size of their hummus! 😦
EDIT: To be clear, it was the pre-packed Hummus. We ordered to go a week or so ago, and when we'd ordered in the past we'd always gotten a full-sized cube, but this time the cube was halved.

Chicken skewer with the cauliflower side and muhuara(?) dip. So good!
All the eggplant dips in the sampler was good, maybe the chunky one was the best

It’s very average compared to other mediterranean restaurants in the area, and their claimed imported olives and pickles taste like low quality olives and pickles from the store so I was very disappointed with that, plus I noticed later the waiter had made a mistake in the bill.

Restaurantji Recommends
First of all, 99% of the menu is Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian dishes, not Israeli. If you do not believe me, a quick Google search will suffice. Even better, I urge you to visit another Middle Eastern restaurant and order the same items — you will see how much better they taste and how much more generous the portions are.
The labneh was the only thing I enjoyed, and that is not difficult to get right, especially since they probably did not make it from scratch. The muhammara was disappointing, the baba ghanoush was disappointing, and even the fried cauliflower — which is almost impossible to get wrong — was subpar.
The portions were small, and the dishes were served in ways this cuisine was never meant to be presented. How this place received such a high rating is beyond me. I will update this review with recommendations for better places once I have tried more restaurants in the Bay Area.
Updated since owner responded: you can make and citations of pizza but guess what? Pizza is still Italian. You can make different visitation of sushi, but guess what sushi is still Japanese. So go ahead and make Lebanese, Palestinian food, but don’t call it Israeli cause it is just NOT

Wonderful Sunday lunch last week. The fried cauliflower florets starter was great. Nicely fried, not greasy with a good thick pesto labane sauce. We loved the muhamarra with the fried pita strips. Had some the next day and it was still fantastic. The chicken pita sandwich was good. My chickpea salad was tasty, but I wasn’t expecting the chickpeas to be so firm. The chocolate babka was great, not too sweet. The staff was attentive and the service was prompt. Nice atmosphere too, casual and welcoming.

I have to change my review to decrease the food rating unfortunately. They recently changed the recipe of the gluten free pita and it's much more dry and doesn't taste right.I used to get it all the time but now it has rice and I have an allergy to rice as well. I was disappointed to taste the dryness, but also not be alerted that they had changed the ingredients on their recipe. More transparency on ingredients would be great to know what is safe to eat or not because not all employees know the ingredients or will say if it changed.
Thank you
