We met some friends for lunch, they say this is their favorite for noodles. We got seated right away, we ordered tempura appetizers as well as 4 different soups. I tried Tonkatsu Udon, the textures were very nice, I wished it could have been a hotter broth. Perhaps after adding a cool-ish topping, it cools down the broth. Also tried the Mentai Cream Sauce Udon. It was creamy with a seafood taste, I think we are use to broth-y udon styles. The tempura was nice and crispy, it also came with a side of ginger and daikon to add to the dipping sauce. Service was welcoming and efficient.

Got the warm udon with the sweet tofu (kitsune?). It was excellent and a decent portion. Bit pricy here but to be expected for the area. Would come again and order the tofu again!

Large menu priced where you'd expect a Japanese spot in Mountain View. For two people, our table had 2 sukiyakis, okonomiyaki, corn tempura, and gyoza. All tasted good but wish the food temp was a little hotter. Waitstaff was very attentive and the food came out fast.

Udon Mugizo in Mountain View is a standout for anyone craving authentic, handmade noodles with a perfect chew. The Tonkatsu Deluxe Udon features a rich, creamy broth that pairs beautifully with their thick noodles, while the Beef Katsu Curry Udon offers a deep, savory heat with a perfectly crispy cutlet. Their appetizers are just as impressive—the Chicken Karaage is juicy and well-seasoned, and the Fried Shrimp are light, crunchy, and never greasy. It’s an essential Castro Street stop for high-quality Japanese comfort food.

I visited this restaurant for lunch during the Christmas market. From the moment I walked in, the female staff member seemed angry and unwelcoming, and it felt like bringing in a stroller was not welcome either.
The noodles were overcooked and not enjoyable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

This is by far the best udon I have had. The flavors were very complex and the dishes were served shortly after ordering. I enjoyed it so much I went back the next day to try other menu items. I highly recommend the Tonkotsu udon deluxe, I opted for the large which was too much as it is filled with meat. The Katsu curry udon is also very delicious and comes in a large portion. If you are looking for a carbonara style udon go for the Mentai cream sauce.

Everything was great. I like all the menus but I was feeling the bussers were trying to get rid of us. We weren't even finish eating, but the bussers were trying to get rid of the dishes and kept asking if we were done. Please wait cleaning until all of the guests on the table are done eating. It wasn't busy in the restaurant. I wish I have better experience next time.

Always love the Udon Mugizo locations throughout the Bay, but this location is one of the best. Food and service is always consistently great. Shoutout to Jason (our server) who was extremely attentive and helpful. Will be back again very soon!

Really yummy. For $19 I got a very filling curry udon bowl. Would recommend. There was a bit of a wait though on a Thursday ~7:45pm. Join the wait-list early on Yelp. Also got some edamame which was good but not amazing, probably wouldn't get that again. Would be interested in trying the tempura curry udon next time since fish cake in the normal one doesn't add much.
