Given how much we've enjoyed Johnny & Sanny's sister restaurant, Doppio Zero, over the years, it was a disappointing experience overall at Johnny & Sanny's. We had a party of ten and ordered plenty of appetizers and a variety of entrees, none of which were especially tasty. Many of the entrees were swimming in oil. The frito misto was mostly fried zucchini. The tomatoes in the caprese salad were cold and flavorless. The waitstaff was not particularly attentive and when the bill came, our waitress took pains to explain that despite the 20% tip that was already included, we could add an extra amount. No thanks.
Great looking restaurant. Lots of space for event, large bar area and nice outdoor area. We chose to sit inside and had a nice table. Our only criticism is the bar tender doubled as our waiter so he was busy with drink orders. There seemed to be plenty of staff so we were puzzled that there wasn't a waitperson for the inside dining room. The food was good. The lemoncello cake was awesome. I'll give it another try.
We enjoyed a delightful evening. Wait staff is attentive and engaging, ambiance perfect, and terrific food.
This new restaurant has many of our favorite, well executed dishes from Doppio Zero. The staff needs additional training on the point of service tablet as our server had trouble placing our happy hour items. I felt he also didn't acknowledge my birthday from the beginning or even after asking if we wanted dessert. He needs coaching on how to speak to guests.
The food and service was very good. A very nice restaurant to go to. Good addition to the MT. View collection of restaurants on Castro Street.
Welcome to a new (but-well-established-owner-group) restaurant in Mountain View. Expections were high and BAM!!! All were met! Looking forward to the next visit.
Great new place. Good food and great service. Definitely will go back. I took my wife there for my birthday and they made it a very nice experience.
I have a back injury and we had to sit (and stand) at the bar for lunch. Jesus, the bartender who served us, made us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. We wanted a glass of wine and he brought out three bottles for us to taste, he paid attention to our pacing request, and the food was excellent. We enjoyed our lunch so much that we returned and had the same experience a second time! Jesus is awesome!
Our dinner was a wonderful experience. The food was great. We sat outside and the ambience was lively and fun. Our waitress was attentive. A perfect evening!
The food quality and taste of this place were great, in fact we have already decided to go back. Also food and wine prices were moderate, a welcome respite from crazy prices in other restaurants. Knowing that this restaurant only open less than a month ago, The staff was very welcoming, but the service in general is lacking, somewhat disorganized. I hope they can fix this in teh next few weeks and wish them well.

This was our second drip in as many weeks. This was a letdown, with slow service and a tough steak. I hope this was just a bad night for them, as we like local restaurants.
The food here was good though the menu is brief. Lasagne and meatballs were nice and the picatas were well liked. The restaurant took care of mixed up meals and that was appreciated. The train goes by often, at the dinner hour, especially during the week, so it can be distracting. All in all a very nice experience. The decor is wonderfully done, bright and conducive to a positive eating experience.
It was a great experience. From acknowledging our anniversary to the delicious food, awesome place!
The food was great and the service was good! All five family members enjoyed it! While it tasted GREAT, the Cioppino was much messier to eat than I expected. The menu does not tell you that there will he half a crab, shell on, floating on top of everything that you need to use both hands to break down :-) And since its in a red sauce it becomes an absolute napkin-fest to eat it. That said, the crab was cooked to _perfection_, and the sauce and other seafood was also amazing! Will definitely go again.
This place is new and will only get better. Great space, friendly service, and a great throwback menu. Classic old Italian favorites. The food is good, but it can get better with some more attention to details. Can't wait to try again in a few weeks.
