This place is too hot that they only want you to finish your plate and give your seat to others

Far inferior to the San Mateo location. They use small scallop meat pieces instead of the large scallops at San Mateo. The noodles are bundled into large pieces. The chopped garlic in the sauce doesn’t seem fresh, like it’s from a can. There’s also no fruit. And they don’t take Amex? Not that that really matters

Dietary restrictions: messed up vegetarian order - not sure how, given you put in your own ingredients. found a number of pieces of beef or lamb in the pot, unsure how they ended up there.

first time i went there it wasn’t bad, but this makes it tough to go back

Do NOT order delivery via their website. Extremely bad experience.

Not only was my ordered beverage MISSING, the portion of food was unreasonably small. I ordered 1.5LB of Malatang and got at most 0.9LB - I’ve dined in multiple times before so trust me I know what 1.5LB looks like. I ordered beef and there was one small slice of beef, exactly ONE.

What’s worst is there’s no place to report those issues. Hence the review.

Food is great but expect subpar service and a wait if on the weekend. I've been here twice now and noticed the same staff members. They all speak minimal English and some even use hand signs and skip verbal communication entirely lol. First time experiencing that at a restaurant 😂

Come here for good tasting food with a ton of customization, but lower expectations around service.

Cost can add up to with $15/lb. Both times I racked up over 2 lbs of food, but at least you get to take home the leftovers.

The overall taste is not as good as Yang Guofu, and the soup base is not fragrant enough. Sour soup is more delicious than beef bone soup. The doneness is well controlled.
The dining environment is too noisy and it is not recommended to dine in. The high floor height and lack of soft-covered sound absorption make it an echo chamber.

Me and my husband we had a food poisoning here. We both threw up after eating a soup and today we are feeling nauseous, having chills. Be careful.

The advantage is that there are a variety of ingredients to choose from.
But most of them are frozen food.
The average amount of food plus tax and service charge is about 25-35 yuan.
Price is high, satisfaction is average😭

The staff are not friendly. While I was confused whether I should serve myself, this guy came along and ask me to join the wait list. Then he saw another guest behind me and greet him warmly and ask him to skip the line.

Really nice and authentic Malatang place, they weight what you got and cook if for you. A little bit pricey but worth a try see if you like it.

During lunch time on weekdays, I have to wait 55 minutes for takeout. Whether you take out or eat in, you still have to queue up. $30–35 per person. Press waitlist on Yelp in advance. It tastes good, spicy but not too spicy.

They swapped out my meat for a different meat when they took it in the back. Bro, I would have paid for the meat if it was an issue, just let me know instead of cheating me
