Zhangliang Malatang is easily one of my favourites. I love the variety and the whole concept. The best part is that you don’t have to cook your food yourself like other hot pot places.
One bowl is actually more than enough for one person. My husband and I often share a single bowl and we're usually completely full and satisfied. They also have dry pot options, which is a big plus.
If you enjoy hot pots, you’ll love this cuisine. Definitely a must try and already a new favourite.

We came here on a weeknight at 7:30pm and noted that it was already very busy. After walking down the block to see what other options were available, my boyfriend and I settled to have dinner here. Luckily when we arrived, there was an open table available to us. We proceed to get our big bowl and tongs to pick what we want. It's $15 for one pound of food. My boyfriend is vegetarian, and there was quite a bit of vegetarian options. I ordered the bone broth with mild spiciness. Boyfriend ordered the mushroom broth. Our bowls came within 10 minutes. My food was definitely spicier than I was expecting but had great flavor. I added water to dilute down the spiciness. The mushroom broth was very flavorful too. For the price and the amount of food you get, definitely worth the money. Highly recommend the place.

The noodle soup was decent, portion wise slightly pricey for the value but it was pretty tasty
Our go-to place for a mixed bowl of vegetables and proteins. There is some sesame sauce in the soup, and I like to add the green pepper oil.

Zhangliang Malatang is a good, reliable malatang place. There are a lot of ingredient and broth options to suit everyone's taste, and the price feels reasonable. My only complaint is that their spiciest broth isn't very spicy at all! However, this can easily be solved by using the various chilis and sauces at the sauce bar, so it isn't too much of a problem. I've been to this location at least 4 or 5 times and I'll keep coming back whenever I crave malatang!

This place is too hot that they only want you to finish your plate and give your seat to others

Far inferior to the San Mateo location. They use small scallop meat pieces instead of the large scallops at San Mateo. The noodles are bundled into large pieces. The chopped garlic in the sauce doesn’t seem fresh, like it’s from a can. There’s also no fruit. And they don’t take Amex? Not that that really matters

There was hair in the food
Dietary restrictions: messed up vegetarian order - not sure how, given you put in your own ingredients. found a number of pieces of beef or lamb in the pot, unsure how they ended up there.
first time i went there it wasn’t bad, but this makes it tough to go back
