We enjoyed a wonderful tasting which ended up lasting over two hours in which we tried a number of great wines. The highlights were the 2016 pinot noir and the 2018 merlot, the latter sampled from the barrel. Rafer, one of the owners and winemakers, was an excellent host and because the winery is small, we were the only group, so it really was a private tasting for the three of us.

The Pinot Noir from Forthright Winery is superior to any Pinot Noir that I have ever had at any price point. While this wine pairs well with any meal, I recommend that the first few sips are taken before the meal so that you can taste the complex flavors from the tannins that leave an extremely pleasant after taste in your mouth. It will put a smile on your face. While I don't claim to be an oenophile I sure do know what tastes good as a daily wine consumer.

Forthright Winery is such a hidden gem. It's unlike any experience I've had at a winery. Not only is the wine exceptional, the atmosphere is so unique. Above all, the host (Rafer) is so personable and knowledgeable about every aspect of the wine making/tasting process. We had a wonderful tasting with Vinter Pat McEvoy in their wine cave. Pat was very gracious, and the wines are excellent.
