Because my wife was out of town, I was on my own for dinner on a Friday night. I had heard about Black Bear’s all-you-can-eat fish fry, so I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. The fish was hot, flavorful, seasoned well (but not too salty), and satisfying. My first plate came with two large pieces, and I ordered and received two more. The waitress kindly asked if I wanted malt vinegar, which I did, and the dinner also came with tartar sauce and a lemon wedge. There were plenty of fries, which were very good (again, not too salty like most places). And I was surprised at how good the coleslaw was, with a good balance of sweet and tangy. And the cup of slaw was good sized, not small. My total bill came to about $18.50, to which I added a tip. I left quite satisfied, and I would do this deal again. And by the way, there was no wait, since I sat at the counter, and there were plenty of open tables anyway. Friday night is a good time to go!

I was here twice in 2 days. Food was great. Service was lacking both times. Waited for refills and they never came. One was lunch/dinner the other was 10 am.
Recently had breakfast here on a Tuesday morning. Walked in with no waiting. Comfortable booths. Good coffee. Huge servings. Good service as well. Traditional breakfast restaurant perfect if that’s what you’re looking for.
