Mediocre-the service was lacking from what I've experienced in the past . No offers of Parmesan or cracked pepper for the risotto or the fettucine Alfredo . The server clearly was not experienced.
This was one of the best dinners we had. We appreciated the staff and our kids were in love with our waiters. Thanks again for everything. Wish I could send a pic of our kiddo here hugging our new friend who helped wait on us. Very special experience, thanks :)
We always love eating at Bistro Don Giovanni. This was the first time we dined indoors, and we found the ambiance and service to be as good as we have preference when eating outdoors. We highly recommend eating here!
Been going to this place since I was 8 years old. My family likes to travel Italy every other year, this restaurant is better than a lot of the restaurants in Italy. This is a place I always come to whenever I visit Napa. Best place to get carbs before going wine tasting. Definitely recommend!
Comme toujours aux USA, les restaurants italiens sont la plupart du temps un refuge pour les Européens. La cuisine y est moins grasse et le « topping » peu utilisé. Celui-ci est un très bon établissement, la nourriture est bonne, le service impeccable.
Overall a great experience, food, service and atmosphere were top notch. Would come back. Only minor complaint hostess was less than cordial when we first arrived. Didn't make a great first impression but once we settled in we really enjoyed our dining experience.
We asked to be seated in an accessible space for our grandfather. The hostess was extremely accommodating and set us up with a table (there were 10 of us) in an area that didn't require any stairs. Our waiter was clear about the menu and patient as we figured out our order. When our meals arrived, one was a little later and we were impressed to see the server, Michael, speed walking across the restaurant to get it to us as fast as possible. It's tough to have 10 plates coming out all at the same time... our meals were good, though the branzino had some pin bones still in it. And at the end of the meal, our waiter said that he was surprised that the complimentary sorbet for our birthday person wasn't out yet... this was a little disappointing because we were pushing our chairs back to leave. So we waited about 10 minutes, but it didn't arrive, so we left. That said, the atmosphere of the patio was so lovely!!! And the rest of the service was outstanding, so 2 thumbs up for Bistro Don Giovanni!
Food and ambiance always very good, our service on this evening was not stellar. We had an enjoyable anniversary meal but didn't feel the service was as we have enjoyed it in the past.
Nice big patio and shaded. Shared caprese special - tomatos were delicious and quite a bit salty (but we're salt fans!). Unfortunately, these were the only positives and I had high hopes for this restaurant. Veal parm was ok, fettuccine Alfredo definitely sat for too long before served and was very bland, steak frites was a plate about 7/8 fries with a small steak.
They left all the seasoning in Italy. There was absolutely no flavor profile. My 9 year old said the food was bland and lacked seasoning as well. The meatballs had no seasoning and were not juicy. The bread was burnt at the bottom and needed excessive amounts of balsamic vinegar with oil to make it palatable. The salmon was cooked as it should be but again no seasoning. The bolognese sauce was not creamy and it seemed the grease from the meat what not drained. Considering how busy the place was the service was great! I'm still astonished by the amount of people and the high ratings this restaurant has received as it's not palatable. I believe based on the restaurants ability to accommodate large crowds that's the possible reason it's busy. Excellent service and tasteless food is my overall review.

Excellent service with a good sense of humor! Viva Jose? All 8 were very happy with their lunch. EVEN THE TWO TEENAGERS? The 55 yo BD person was treated exceptionally well?
Our server was rude and seemed irritated with the fact that we brought our own bottle of wine. One of the guests ordered a drink from the bar and the ticket time for his drink was almost 8 minutes.
We love this place and go just about every time we are in the Napa area. The food is consistently great, the service amazing and overall vibe/atmosphere great. We had pasta last night that might be the best we have ever had. We also had the Branzino which was amazing. The salad we chose (mysti I think) was the only meh thing. Portions are huge and we shared everything which was perfect. Our only regret is that we were so full that we couldn't finish the awesome desserts. Leave room because it is worth it!!! We will be back again.
The space was very open with a clean fountain center piece giving you a very European vibe. My pasta with clams and my husband's gnocchetti bathed in a lamb ragu were memorable and so delicious. The beet salad was good. My salad misto and the fried olives were avoidable items ( don't order). Try something else. Our waiter was the happiest guy out there. We will return again when picking up our next wine shipment.
We enjoyed a nice dinner with friends on the patio for a warm summer night. The food was good and moderately priced. Expect a wait for food if it's crowded. The restaurant was very busy given a holiday weekend.
