What a great place to learn about and enjoy some great wines.
Besides some great wine, a few of which are one of kind, the hosts, Elana and David, are lively, informative and fun.
The venue is conveniently located at Atlas Peak and Montecito, right across from Silverado Resort. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and experience. Go and enjoy!
came to this vineyard hoping for a divine sip of earth and sun. What I got instead was a mouthful of despair and confusion—like licking a boot that once stepped in grape juice ten years ago.
The grapes? Imagine sadness had a texture. Each one tasted like it had dreams once—crushed, fermented, and then abandoned in the rain. The wine itself somehow manages to be both sour and flat, like it’s fighting an identity crisis in my glass.
And yet… I can’t stop thinking about it.
There’s something almost transcendent about how bad it is—like performance art for your taste buds. I left with a newfound respect for mediocrity, a deeper understanding of humility, and a hangover that felt biblical and that I would pick any $2 wine at Trader Joe’s anyday. Please do not waste your time and this winery.
If Dante had written a tenth circle of hell, it would serve this Merlot at room temperature.
Five stars for the experience of survival. One star for the wine.
It was a wonderful experience. Robert was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour of the caves and a wonderful tasting outside. My favorite Chardonnay is from Farniente
Exceptional Wine Tasting Experience at the Napa Valley Tasting Barn – A Must-Visit!
I recently took a trip to Napa Valley and had the absolute pleasure of visiting the Napa Valley Tasting Barn—and I cannot recommend this place enough! From the moment we arrived, everything about the experience exceeded expectations. The setting was breathtaking, with panoramic views that perfectly captured the beauty of Napa. It felt like a scene straight out of a wine country postcard.
The real highlight, though, was the service. Our server, Tamara, was nothing short of phenomenal. She was warm, knowledgeable, and made the entire tasting experience unforgettable. She walked us through several exceptional wines, educating us on the different varietals and the unique regions they came from. Her passion and expertise made the tasting feel personal and elevated.
The charcuterie board paired perfectly with our wines, adding another layer of enjoyment to the visit. Every detail—from the presentation to the pacing of the tasting—was thoughtfully curated. You can tell the staff truly cares about creating a meaningful and memorable experience for each guest.
This was a 10 out of 10 across the board. Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or just someone looking to enjoy a relaxing and educational afternoon in Napa, the Napa Valley Tasting Barn is a must-visit. And if you’re lucky enough to have Tamara as your server, you’re in for a truly top-tier experience. I will absolutely be back!
We joined the wine club after a visit a few years back. Diverse portfolio all of which is top-tier, and tasting room visits are always a treat. However you do it, find Prime Solum, Tetra and Expression wines.
For the price point food was lackluster there was no flavor salt and pepper could not save it, chicken was rubbery to risotto was gummy overcooked not creamy or velvety staff was really nice and informative views were ok car could us some maintenance there was rust spots in the dome car but the staff was really nice
The Tasting Barn is a refreshing and unique venue hosted by the owners. The wines are
sourced from several regions. The owners,
Elana Hill (daughter of esteemed winery founder
William Hill) and her charming Swedish
husband, are informative and entertaining.
I highly recommend the Tasting Barn for
your Napa experience.
Tasting experience was spectacular! Tamara and David did a wonderful job of allowing you to experience the wines, their vineyards, the terroir and the melding of grapes to wine.
Such a wonderful tasting experience. We are Napans and know when we've found a good thing. David did a superb job and the wines are excellent and a good value. Cheers to all.
Found this by chance and couldn't be more pleased! The location is great. David (son-in-law of the founder) walked us through our tasting, very knowledgeable and friendly. The wines were all excellent and we ended up wine club members bringing 3 of the wines back to our hotel to make sure our son got to taste 2 (he was stuck at the hotel with our dog...) and a Christmas gift for my Merlot loving friend. Would recommend!

Amazing experience. Beautiful surroundings and personalized services from the owner. His knowledge of the wines enhanced our experience. We joined the wine club which had more options than most.
A wonderful boutique winery with a tasting barn in Napa. The hosts are always welcoming and eager to answer questions. And the wines are superb! You won’t be disappointed.
Oh, the Pinot Noir.....amazing!!
Staff was super accommodating. We were going to be 30 minutes late for our Saturday reservation and the young lady on the phone said, Let's do tomorrow, that way you can sit, relax and not feel rushed. We agreed and it was the best decision we made, completely relaxed outside under the canopy, enjoyed the smoked turkey sandwich and the mediterranean sandwich....paired great with the wine! We joined the club and enjoyed a bottle at home!
Highly recommend!!
Such a fun place to spend the day! David and Ellana are amazing hosts and Prime Solum & Expression 38 is still family owned. This is getting to be a rare treat in Napa Valley as most of the family named wineries are actually owned by big corporations.
Did I mention the wine is out of this world delicious!? Most interesting Pinot Noir tasting in the valley hands down. The cabs are incredible too
We loved our tasting at Prime Solum! The service was impeccable and the education behind the wines we were tasting was easy to understand and explained perfectly. David and his wife operate a wonderful spot and we can't wait to be back! PS: order the rose and petit verdot!
