2nd rate all the way
We normally love Villa Romano. We arrived at 6:15 Friday night and they were already out of lamb, which is the reason we chose to eat there. They had one waitress who, at times, actually ran from table to table, and in and out of the kitchen. She walked and ran with a heavy step causing a very disturbing pounding throughout the evening. My order was wrong - to the point I couldn’t eat it because it was way too spicy for me. (I asked for “no spice” because of my Barrett’s disease.) The waitress complained momentarily about people wanting special dishes. We asked for a couple items that we never got. At the end of the meal, she came back to me to say she checked with the kitchen and I was wrong, saying they didn’t put any spice in my food. (Mind you, just one bite put a blister on my tongue - which is still there 2 days later - and I had to spit it out.) We were made to feel that our being there was a huge inconvenience for them. Again, I want to say; we have eaten many lovely dinners at Villa Romano’s and it is normally very good, but last Friday night’s lengthy dinner was an unfavorable experience!
Every time I have gone to the Villa Romano it is a wonderful experience. The food is exquisite and the portions are fair. The staff is always friendly and usually very attentive. I love the feel of this restaurant its very intimate and authentic.
If your expecting hot new trendy atmosphere this not the place...its very old school italian decor with tables in a interesting original 1940's farm house with classic italian music playing...but the great news is its also classic old school very good top quality very fresh italian cuisine that is the best I have had in many many years...there is no 2019 San Francisco Fusion entree's on the menu...but if you want some classic italian food that is better than most of the new fusion stuff and its consistent every time at reasonable prices this is the place for you...all the pastas are amazing...the steaks are great cuts of high quality meat prepared correctly with a choice of many wonderful sides included the garlic bread is to die for and the best you will ever eat...ask for drawn butter with it or the vinegar and oil. Now because they are a small family run operation and many local Italian families know how good the food is some nights the restaurant is closed for large private parties so be smart and call ahead to make sure they are open to the public that night. So again if your into fine Italian food at reasonable prices for the Napa area and not some off the chart fusion experience in a trendy high tech atmosphere your going to be as excited as I am as it is a go to place for me a few times a month.
Amazing food and ambiance!
Went for daughters birthday Her choice! It's a historic house in Napa! Dont judge it by the outdoor parking area, it's all alone in an old part of town. The inside is very quaint. Much like going to an Italian home in Italy. The service was outstanding! The food was deliciously homemade quality Italian! Their Italian garlic cheese bread was best I have ever had.! Fresh out of oven in bread pan.! We had the traditional Italian lasagna, spaghetti and meatball and eggplant parmigiana! Everything was mouthvwarering delicious!
Solid place, great food. Best place to host an event
Very great food and atmosphere
The steak salad is delicious. I make sure I stop in any time I'm in the area.
If you prefer modern architecture and fast service this is not the place for you. If, however, you find old buildings charming and like the meal not rushed this might be the place. The menu is limited but more than adequate and has a nice price range. They have a good wine list by bottle or by glass. We both ordered the Tomato and Roasted Bell Pepper soup and although a bit heavy on the pepper was very delicious. My wife ordered the Fettuccini Polo and said it was excellent and I decided to take a gamble and ordered one of their specials for the day. It was also superb. The server was friendly, warm, and attentive. We’ve been there before and am always amazed that it is not more popular – always plenty tables available.
Restaurantji Recommends
After a great experience a few months back, we decided to stop by for dinner again on a Saturday evening (6pm). Another couple also arrived at the same time and to our surprise the place was closed with no sign at the door even when the sign said Open at 5pm. Tables were set but no one was there. I called the restaurant and went straight to voicemail. We are disappointed we didn't get to try their food again.
Food was nice and the wait staff friendly.
The food here was amazing! From the crab cakes and garlic bread, to the risotto and chocolate desert (can't remember the exact name of it)! Vanessa served us & gave us a wonderful experience. My mom & I now consider her a good friend. She is as sweet as can be & I would absolutely recommend this awesome restaurant to anyone looking for great food & service!!
Omgosh! What a h
Paid $50 for a meal I was taking out. Boxes stacked everywhere like no one had eaten there in years. Food seemed like it was frozen prior to being eaten. Don't know how this place has decent reviews. Restaurant did not have bruschetta but when we asked, the employee said they did and slapped a exorbitant $10 price tag on it. It ended up being 2 pieces of burnt bread with goat cheese on it. I don't usually leave bad reviews but it has to be known that the food/service was terrible. If you're considering eating here, please don't.
