I went to chings to buy hopia and saw their ube spanish bread. I bought it to try but while I was eating the bread, I noticed dots on the bread and I thought it was the ube food coloring but it was actually molds. Unfortunately, I did not get to enjoy my spanish bread at all. Ended up throwing it away.

Especially if you visit on the weekends, you’ll be able to find fresh-out-of-the-oven hopia (filipino pastry that reminds me a bit of mooncakes but less sugary) that are simultaneously crisp, crunchy, buttery, and flaky on the outside, with moist and creamy fillings spanning ube (purple yam), pineapple, jackfruit, coconut, sweet onion, and mung bean. The combination of quality, freshness, and breadth of pastries—not to mention, price (<$1 each)—cannot be beat!

Ordered 2 dozen around 4pm and got home only to find out all of them were very hard, clearly as if they were a day or so old. Usually they grab them from the standing shelf right behind the counter, but this time the worker went to get some out the back. Guessing because they ran out up front of the ones I chose and most likely supplied me with day old or so ones.I will not be coming back here.

Small shop with plenty of parking. Nice seating area and super nice customer service. The guy who helped me was such a nice guy! He said "looks like a before dinner snack" ummm yes!!! Absolutely the plan! But what was supposed to be a little sweet snack became my dinner as they were so irresistibly delicous! Hands down the best hopia I've ever eaten. They give them warm to you and taste freshly made. My personal favorite was the Ube but they were honestly all soo good! Glad I live In National City and that my grocery store is right next to it cause this girl will be a regular! Go support this local business. You can thank me later!

The must say the BEST Hopia in SoCAL.Tasty, flakey and not that sweet. They have several flavors to choose from but I still like the orginal. All of them are awesome by the way. Service-quick and friendly Filipino food gem in national city.

You may have the best hopia in town but you will NEVER HAVE THE BEST SERVICE. I only visit San Diego once a year or two and I make it to a point to stop here for good hopia to take home with me. This guy at front who takes and packs your orders is VERY RUDE!!! I came in to order 3 x 50pcs and he just kept on rolling his eyes and shaking his head as if I am not helping their business. I don’t know who he is, I hope not the owner, but he needs some customer service skills. I wonder if I’m the only one whom he treated that way.

Tastes AMAZING. Always warm, fresh, flakey, and not too sweet! So worth making the trip down to enjoy their hopia. Service has been friendly each visit. I pop them in a toaster oven at 350 degrees for 5 min to reheat and they're *almost* as good as when you first get them. There's still nothing quite like that first bite right when you get them though. That just means I'll be visiting more often.

We came in late Friday afternoon and there wasn't a line. I was worried there wouldn't be a big selection left but we were able to get everything we wanted! Highly suggest deciding how many of each flavor you want prior to going in, because they're very fast when you know exactly what you want. I've had hopia in a lot of different cities across the US but this the first time I've been served it warm and WOW these are phenomenal. I'm happy I stopped here before heading to mission beach for our vacation because I had them for the whole weekend and more to bring back to arizona. These were so delicious and I will definitely be stopping by every time I head to San Diego! It's nice because it isn't that far from Seafood city and some of the other Filipino shops.

Visiting San Diego at National city. Wanted to get some hopia to bring back to vegas. Great selection of hopia- many different selection. Worth buying the bigger quality which they give you extra. Service is quick. They also have krinkles!!!

When my parents went to San Diego, my only request was Ching's because I had a pregnancy craving. It definitely hit the spot! I requested some ube and pandan ones. The crust is chewy but soft. The filling has a good flavor! If you are a fan of hopia, definitely check this place out if you're in the area.

Pho was authentic and so many options for the menu including boba drinks. Fried shrimp and egg rolls .

I've been buying hopia from Ching since 2001. The taste remained the same from over 20 years to present.
