On Mondays and Wednesdays, they have this buy one get one free so everyone flocks in. The problem is that the line is not moving, and it's not because of the volume of customers. It's the ladies nitpicking the scoops/servings. It is a to-go buffet style place. People are paying, not begging for food. Servings shouldn't be skimped and should not take forever to be plated or placed in to-go cups/plates. Tita's can move their long lines fairly quickly. At PhilHouse, you'll stand for at least 30 mins every Monday or Wednesday and on any given busy day.
Pros: Their vegetables are good (bean sprouts, packbet, bitter melon). Tomato based meats/poultry are decent. Their chicharon, deep-fried ruffle fat version, not the skin, is legit.
Cons: All else you can skip. Bistek is missing that sour taste. Lumpia is all wrapper, lil meat. Skewers are too sweet. Binagoongan is too salty, not balanced enough with coconut cream. Dinuguan tastes great, but the meat is always overcooked, borderline corned beef texture. Pancit is bland. I could go on and on.
Their fish are popular. I'll probably try that next time.

While the food is undeniably tasty and reasonably priced, the service left much to be desired. The server seemed to be moving in slow motion, leisurely conversing with her colleagues, oblivious to the fact that the line of customers had grown unmanageably long. Her lack of situational awareness was evident and frustrating for those patiently waiting to be served.

I always order through DoorDash. If they need to change my order because an item is unavailable, they call me, and I answer right away. However, if I need to change my order, no one answers my calls, no matter how many times I try.
Y'all need to step it up in your services. Smh

I bought a lechon pan. I didn't check because I trust people, especially filipinos, that they won't give me a BURN HARD LECHON KAWALI SOAK IN OIL FOR DAYS. NOBODY BUYED IT. A GOOD PLACE TO BUY FOOD. ,VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED .

Their food is really good and affordable. Tbh they’re risking alot since most dishes are pork, personally I get sick when the pork is not well cooked or its old and I always enjoy this

Love the Menudo (Filipino style) and the Bar-b-que pork (if you can get it). This place has been around forever and is a staple of the community.

I never been to the cafeteria itself. I have been ordering through doordash/ubereats. The halohalo is good but they keep on messing up my combo order. I ordered sinigang but I receive nilaga. The sinigang is too salty and lemony I don't know how to describe it, not crispy and also just look at the size of that onion.

Authentic- remembered just like it was in pinas. Served by Titas- legit! We had adobo, lumpia Shanghai, pakbet, pansit. Serving size family style. I get all the hype.
Great food not greasy ,good serving portion, averyone nice and smiling.
The best value and quality a hole in the wall for sure but it is also the busiest place in SD but fast cafeteria style always a line because the food is that good
They need to do better if they want to stay open. How do you make lumpia bad? Each roll is about an inch big and it's soggy, not crisp. I had to try and revive them in the air fryer for ten minutes. The sauces smell like they're a week old. I'm afraid I might die if I eat this. Only two stars because the halo halo was fine.
