Went here for Valentine’s Day dinner. Nice presentation with live music. Service was good. Food was mediocre. Beautiful spot but nothing special about the food.

The food was EXCELLENT! The service was extremely slow. I feel as if the servers were trying to give guests enough time to enjoy their meal, but they definitely gave it way too much time in between courses. The smell of the building when you enter is very musty and old.

Wow as a chef I will say the food is great the guy really knows his food. I saw some people complain about small stuff like the bathroom not being updated its not about a fancy restroom it's all about the food and they do a great job. It took us a while to get food but it is fine dinning so don't expect it to be quick the steaks a thick also so it's not like cooking a buger so please be patient and have a drink and injoy.

We had a family get together for our 50th Anniversary! It was top notch in every way! Lisa one of the owners was very welcoming & she took very good care of us throughout the night! Our server Blair was excellent! He was above & beyond in every way! We were all very impressed with his level of service! He was always available for all of our needs he was amazing! Our meals were out of this world! Our compliments to Chef Vincent Alexander! Our appetizers were Fluffy Gnocchi & Baked Brie with mixed fruits, fig jam & croutons...excellent! I had the Black & White special Filet Mignon with Shrimp....every bite melted in my mouth...so delicious! Others had Beef Wellington...which was the best they had ever had! Same with Rack of Lamb, Rib Eyes, Swordfish! Our entrees came with a very crisp house salad or soup & delicious mashed potatoes & hot veggies..including broccolini. Very nice atmosphere & viewing of the waterfall was beautiful! I can't say enough about every aspect of our experience! Thank-you to everyone who made our 50th Anniversary dinner so special & such a memorable one! We will definitely be back!?

My husband took me here to celebrate my 50th birthday. He had not physically entered the restaurant before, but from previously reading the reviews, he remembered someone using the word "unassuming".Let me break it down for you. The food is the only thing saving this place. Everything about the inside of the place screams the 90's, down to the napkin fold. The dining room (and bathrooms) are in desperate need of a makeover. The vibe inside is OLD. There were two waiters managing five tables there while we dined. No bussers, which were needed because we ran out of water several times. From what we saw, the average age who frequents Alexander's are senior citizens who have been going to this establishment to celebrate milestones throughout the years. Once these patrons die (sadly not far off I reckon), there is not going to be a base to support this establishment. My advice to the owners is to do something quick so the word gets out Alexander's has revamped before it's too late - unless retirement is near, which if that is the case, milk it for all it's worth. While the food is quite good, more will be needed to sustain the restaurant, especially as a younger crowd moves into the area.We would only return if somewhere else were paying for it (it is $$$), and we sat outside on a warm summer day next to the waterfall which would hopefully drown out the horrid elevator music.

DISAPPOINTINGWanted to spend a nice dinner out with the family around Christmas, and Alexander's could accommodate the six of us on the Saturday before Christmas. While recent reviews are excellent, I was a bit concerned that they had open tables when I called the week prior. However, my wife and I had many excellent meals at Slocum House years ago, so we gave this a try.Terribly expensive for decent food. The Beef Wellington was under-seasoned, served lukewarm, and the sauce too sweet. The rack of lamb was slathered in mustard, which overpowered the meat. Two steaks were ordered medium and came out rare. On the plus side, the salmon was good, the lobster with the surf and turf was good, and appetizers were a nice starting point. Yet, for a steakhouse I expected better control over how the meat comes out of the kitchen. Our server was pleasant and attentive, but for a restaurant that was not half-full, we had long lapses between courses and had to ask for more water. The wine list is small and underwhelming. There was live music, but it was a distraction: It was too loud - making conversation difficult to hear - and the performer appeared intoxicated.Food and dining out is a very personal experience, but I cannot see how anyone who has a serious appreciation for cooking or fine dining can give this better than 3 stars.

This unassuming location surprised us with an elegant dinning experience! We arrived on a weeknight without a reservation. The hostess was not available to greet us so we waited to catch the attention of the server. The hostess did not know the soup of the night, but the server was quite loquacious about the specials, describing in detail how dishes are prepared, highlighting the ingredients, sauces, and flavors. The Harvest Salad featured a delicious breaded round of goat cheese that was crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The truffle gnocchi was so flavorful that I cleaned the plate, savoring the sauce. The potato flour was perfectly fluffy, not chewy. The bone-in pork was masterful as well. We were tempted by the carrot cake. Its texture was grainy and heavy. In contrast the cream that was served with it was light and well-balanced with a note of brandy. We enjoyed our visit and had many tasty vignettes to share with friends.
